“Excellent value, comfortable, excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2008

LOCATION: Very conveniently located. In the commercial center of the city. Near Corte Ingles and a commercial center, the bus terminal and the train station. Within 10-15 min walking distance of the center of the city (or 5 euros taxi, or 1 euro bus ride - the bus stop is at the corner). Plenty of small restaurants, cafeterías and bars in that area.
PERSONNEL: Front desk, House Keeping, Restaurant: Most pleasant and cooperative.
PRICE: Very reasonable. 45 euros for the room and 4 for the buffet breakfast.
ROOM: Nicely decorated. Recently built so everything is new and contemporary. The room was not spacious, but it was not small either. External rooms are reasonably quiet due to good soundproofing double glass windows. Comfortable bed. I could have used a larger desk, but it was OK to work.
BATHROOM: Nice. New. Plenty of hot water and water pressure.
INTERNET ACCESS: VERY FAST... Over 6 Mbps download speed, and included in the daily rate. GREAT.
BREAKFAST. Nothing fancy but good enough. Friendly service.

I am planning to go back tomorrow to La Coruña for three more nights and I am going back to the Moon Hotel (Dec 2008)

“Fantastic find in La Coruna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2008

The Hotel Moon is an extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean, conveniently located 2* hotel that should really have 3* status. (I was told repeatedly in Galicia that the owners of smaller hotels ask for their establishments to be awarded less stars than they merit in order to pay less tax...)
My twin-bedded exterior room was a very good size and would have been comfortable for two people. Floors are laminate, and furniture is contemporary, 'Ikea' style -- but more upmarket, tasteful, and better quality. The bed boasted a top-quality, firm mattress, and the softest pillows I've ever come across. Free Internet is provided to all rooms, and the reception desk will lend a cable to facilitate access. The television is a large plasma-screen affair, and rooms also have a/c and heating. The bathroom was modern and functional, towels and toiletries were plentiful, and everything sparkled with cleanliness.
Public areas include a cafe/restaurant next to reception (rather odd, limited menu, and no fixed-price menu at lunchtime), a lounge on the first floor, and a breakfast room where the small but ample breakfast buffet is served each morning for the price of just 4 Euros per person (+ tax).
This hotel is very new and opened only recently.
Service is, without exception, excellent: at reception, in the breakfast room, from cleaning staff...
The hotel is situated less than five minutes' walk from the bus station for inter-city services, is well serviced by city buses, and is in a very busy shopping area which also has several places to eat. It is a twenty-minute walk to the 'old' part of the city, and to the leisure centre near the port with its eleven-screen cinema.
I paid just 45 Euros per night for my room (this price was available by booking direct with the hotel).
While this establishment might not be a honeymoon destination, it is an excellent choice for the business or leisure traveller who wants a comfortable, clean, modern room in a well-run hotel located in an excellent shopping area.

“Great budget hotel in A Coruña”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2008

I spent one night at the Hotel Moon as part of a tour across Northern Spain. As usual with Spanish hotels, it offers very good value for money.

Its location is quite good, not far from the main commercial areas and a few steps away from El Corte Ingles department store. The staff is really friendly and the rooms are great for a 2-star hotel: good beds, 32" LCD TV and an outstanding shower. And everything is impaccably clean.

If I had to visit A Coruna again, I would most probably stay here again.

“Great for the business traveler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2008

Hotel Moon is an (apparently) new hotel located a short walk from the La Coruña bus station. Its situation is more functional than touristy: you won't be staying next to the beach, but the neighbourhood offers a number of conveniences, including several banks, cafeterias, good local bus connections to the rest of the city, a taxi stand a few metres from the front door, and a major department store across the street, between the bus station and the hotel. This in particular is convenient as the supermarket in the basement sells hot meals for takeaway as well as the usual sandwiches, salads etc.

My double room was spacious and equipped with comfortable, utilitarian furniture. Flat screen TV with many different channels, and a large bathroom with modern fixtures, hair dryer, shampoo etc.

Internet was available free of charge: not WiFi but the hotel will provide you a cable to connect your laptop to the wall outlet.

Staff were helpful and solicitous, especially the attractive young lady on the front desk when I left, who not only provided aspirin to help assuage the aftereffects of a lengthy dinner the previous evening, but also seemed genuinely interested in my opinion of the hotel and whether or not I'd identified any areas for improvement.
