“Superb apartment in a good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2009

Very clean and comfortable apartment in a busy but quiet (at night) location surrounded by shops and cafes . In fact there are two coffee shops, two small supermarkets a fresh fruit and veg shop and pattiserie right opposite. The hustle and bustle of the old town is a pleaseant and safe 10 -15 minute walk and we were glad to be situated in this location. Girona is such a compact, walking friendly, city that it is a pleasure just to stroll around its streets both modern and the old. A walk along the old town wall is a must and not too taxing but well worth the climb. It has been beautifully preserved and the views of the city with the Pyrenees backdrop is stunning.
Jean reccommended two restaurants and we found both to be excellent so do ask him to direct you. He was most efficient and helpful when he greeted us but never bothered us after this but left us several contact phone numbers in case we needed him.
We used the 'Barcelona' shuttle bus from the airport and then a 10 minute walk to the apartment was pretty simple. You turn right out of the bus station and walk along the busy Carrer Barcelona until you reach a junction with Carrer Creu (Lidl on corner) turn left and the apartment is approx 10 minute walk down on the right (look for large illuminated 'P' sign as an underground car park is next door)
All in all a great city for a 2 - 3 day break or longer if you wish to explore further afield.

“Great apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2008

When we booked we were a bit concerned that there was no reception and that we had to inform the owner by phone if we were going to arrive after 22:00. As it was our flight was delayed and I had to ring to say it would be after 23:30 before we got there. Joan, who I think was the owner, was waiting for us when we eventually arrived. Instead of being annoyed, he couldn't have been more helpful. He insisted on helping us find a parking sport, before we checked in. Then he made sure we knew where everything was and how all the appliances worked. All this after midnight!

The apartment itself seemed to be brand new and very comfortable. It had every modern appliance including dishwasher, microwave, flatscreen TV and DVD. Beds and linen were spotless and the bathroom had an abundance of towels. A word of warning - the shower is so powerful it spun out of control and ended up pointing at the ceiling.

It is an easy walk to the old town. There are loads of coffee shops nearby. However we left it a bit late to eat one night and only managed to find one place that was still open (just off Catalunya Square and the best paella I've had in a long long time!) That said, the following night we had one of the worst meals ever in a 'tastapans' restaurant on Carrer Barcelona - Pizza Hut would have been a better choice.

It's also easy to get around by car and we drove to Banyoles and to the coast. Both great trips. Overall a great weekend.
