“Stylish Hotel with a Convenient Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The Hotel Villa Emilia is a beautiful hotel located just outside the tourist zone of Barcelona. It is, however, extremely convenient to any location because of it's proximity to the Rocafort metro stop. The hotel is literally on the same block. Additionally, there's a bank/ATM immediately across the street. If you want to save some money coming to/from the airport, you can take the Aerobus, since the hotel is directly between two of the bus' stops. Besides the convenient location, the hotel is extremely stylish. The rooms are very modern & have very nice bathroom facilities. I loved sitting in the comfortable chair. The TV had lots of channels, but just a couple in English. My room had a great view & seemed to be very quiet. My only complaints about the room are the lack of electrical outlets & the somewhat firm bed. Besides that, the room was very nice. The breakfast buffet had lots of delicious options & the coffee was amazingly good. I didn't eat or drink at the hotel bar, but it was very busy each night. The Villa Emilia was a great place to stay while in Barcelona. If you want a hotel that's not in the middle of the touristic insanity, this is certainly your place.

“Good location, trendy hotel, smells delicious”

This hotel was easy to find from rocafort station and in a good location close to restaurants and shops. Chic and modern style. There is a definite effort to create a comforting atmosphere as the whole hotel smells like a radox advert. Smooth Check in and helpful staff who gave us a pack of local information complete with map. Our room was immaculate and welcoming with a swish bathroom. The only downside was that there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room and the view could have been better but I'm guessing most would be out all day as there is so much to do. we didn't opt for breakfast but found some close by. Tip... The cocktail bar is nice but pricey.

“Modern, comfortable and clean”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in October. The weather in Barcelona around this time was about 26 degrees. We arrived at this hotel around the middle of the day and were greeted by professional and pleasant english speaking staff. We were shown to our room on the 6th floor. The room was large, modern and very comfortable. It overlooked the road, which was a pleasant outlook. I was a little apprehensive as our room was opposite the lift and facing the road and I am a light sleeper. The outdoor rooftop bar is also on the floor, above our room. I needn't have worried as I slept like a baby. I didn't hear a thing. The following morning my husband and I made our way downstairs for breakfast, which was a feast. All fresh produce, including juices and fantastic coffee.

My husband and I walked to La Ramba from the hotel which took about 10-15 mins doing an easy walk.

I would rate this hotel as 4 star and highly recommend it. It was very comfortable and the staff couldn't do enough to help us with our sightseeing requirements.

Barcelona was a surprise city. I had no pre-conceived notions - but fell in love with the city immediately on arrival.

Choosing to stay at Villa Emilia definitely added to our fantastic trip.

Room Tip: Request a high floor facing the road. Definitely get breakfast included, as it excellent value for...

“Affordable quality”

My girlfriend and I arrived late on Friday night and received a warm welcome from the receptionist. We didn't get the requested double bed but the twin beds pushed together were comfortable enough.

The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. TV had a couple of English channels. Small mini bar which wasn't too badly priced. 3E for a local beer, 2E for a water. Decent quality shower but no bath. Decent towels, and 'ritual' toiletries. Shower had a glass divider and was on same level as floor. Quite stylish if you like this sort of thing ! Also fast, free wi-fi. We had a room at the back with a view onto the back of the hotel. Not very attractive but, to be honest, couldn't have cared less !

For us the location was excellent. Literally 1 minute from the nearest metro station which took you to Placa Catalunya (La Ramblas) in less than 10 minutes. To get to hotel we took the airport bus (which costs 5E each) to Placa Espanya and then a taxi for 6E to the hotel. Going back we skipped the taxi and took the metro to the Placa. Hotel advised us that a taxi would cost 30-35E from / to the airport so for us it was worth the savings.

Bar was nice but we didn't spend much time there. Seemed quite quiet and had a pianist and double bass player most nights. Also had a roof top terrace where drinks can be brought from the bar. Breakfast and meals were served just round from the bar. We hadn't booked breakfast in advance but on arrival was offered the chance to book for the 3 days at a discounted price of 10E (normally 13E I think). We declined the 3 days and booked for the one but after having breakfast we requested the full 3 days after all ! Obviously a continental selection but excellent quality. Salmon, jamon, salamis, various breads, cereals, fruit, pastries, different jams, toaster and egg boiling machine ! Coffee, teas, fresh juice, water and cava. All you need !

Overall great value and excellent quality hotel. Polite and friendly, English-speaking staff. Excellent quality breakfast. Location ideal if you don't mind using the metro or walking. Will definitely be going back. If you want good quality at a decent price then this is the place to go.

“Tremendous”

A bit late adding the review, but me and my girlfriend stayed at Villa Emilia for 4 nights in August and it was genuinely fantastic. The hotel is stylish, elegant and modern, whilst remaining very comfortable. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
Our room was on the corner of the hotel and overlooked the junction outside. This was good for watching the world go by, but the floor to ceiling windows cut out all of the noise when we wanted quiet. The room itself was spacious, clean and decorated in a tasteful and contemporary fashion, with plenty of places to sit and relax.
The bathroom was fantastic, with smart black tiles and a stylish, powerful shower
The highlight of Villa Emilia is the roof terrace, which is a brilliant place to relax on the comfortable sofas after a busy day. A good range of drinks is available at reasonable prices, a personal favourite being the 'Hang Loose' cocktail.
The hotel is well located, about a minutes walk from Rocafort Metro station and around a 5-10 minute metro journey to Placa Catalunya (in the dead centre of Barcelona) from there. The small Spar shop diagonally across the junction from the hotel has a range of drinks, snacks and ice creams, although the hotel does not charge excessively for these items.

I would highly recommend Villa Emilia and would definitely stay again.
