We choose this hotel because of the tripadvisor reviews and also we got a reasonable deal. We were there for 2 nights at the beginning of February. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide variety of rolls, jams, cheeses, meats etc, plus egg and bacon, yogurts, fresh fruit etc - all very nice and fresh.
The room was clean and modern. Unfortunately, I think the bathrooms have been designed by a man as the lighting was dreadful - so dark it was impossible to put on makeup in the morning. We were there when the weather was around 2 degrees so were a little worried when we saw there was only a sheet on the bed - fortunately there was a blanket in the cupboard and surprisingly we were perfectly warm enough over night.
There's a great little pool and sun terrace on the roof and, had the weather been warm, it would have been a lovely place to relax in the sun for a few hours or have a evening drink before dinner.
If you like walking the hotel is in an ideal position for all the sights. Nothing was more than about 20 minutes away - in fact we visited most of the main attractions and didn't take the metro or taxi once. It's easy to get to the hotel from the airport - just get the A2 and it's the second stop. The stop is just a couple of minutes away - couldn't be easier. The staff at the hotel were very helpful especially the guy that checked us in who recommended a great tapas restaurant for our first lunch. We used tripadvisor to help us choose where to eat and we certainly were not disappointed. We really recommend Restaurant Etapes - here you can get a really wonderful lunch for Euro 15.50 for 3 courses! We also tried Osmosis who have a 3-course lunch menu for Euro 25 during the week but at the weekend it rises to Euro 45 and becomes a tasting menu - a little bit pretentious and not too welcoming staff but good food..
Altogether we had a fantastic break and would certainly return to Barcelona and stay at the Soho again.
