“Another English viewpoint”

Just returned. A very nice hotel, right on the promenade and easy to get to directly from the airport on the No 60 bus. Rooms vary in standards but we had a lovely suite (710) at the front of the hotel. No sea view from this room but had the sun all morning and on viewing the back of the hotel (seaview) from the rooftop pool I was glad we had an inland view as some of the back rooms ( mainly on the right at the end) had a sheer drop both in front and to the side of them. We did not look at the side rooms but from the outside I would imagine, as the previous reviewer found, they would be dark, dingy and overlooking poor areas. We found the breakfast superb, no complaints at all and enjoyed all the food so much we ate in the hotel for two evenings. It was well priced in comparison to local restaurants and the chocolate fountain was a delight. Staff on reception knowledgeable and friendly but the bar service was a little slow, both in placing and paying for orders. We also ate in the pool bar and again this was an exceptional meal (snack). The newly opened health spa is brilliant with sauna, turkish bath, dead sea flotation room, massage table and a jacuzzi pool which only opened the day we arrived. Although the gym was reported as open a lot of the equipment was out of use and we did not actually see anyperson in the gym so I can't comment on the equipment. The rooftop swimming pool, sun loungers and changing facilities were also immaculate. Room facilities were adequate but basic, toiletries, fridge, but no kettle. Some of the bathroom was a little aged with a leaky bath tap and a hairdryer that had been glued together but these were minor issues. The hotel is a little dated in parts and I would suggest it is more suitable to mature/later life age group but in saying that it is very easy to leave the hotel and find local bars/restaurants. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and hope to return again at sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel get the morning sun but the inland view is pretty dismal, rooms at t...

“from an English viewpoint”

we booked this hotel on the great write ups on Trip adviser. We were Sooooo disapointed. we were given a dark tiny room overlooking dustbins. After some kicking + screaming we did get another room, at least we got sun on the balcony.gymnasium + sauna not open.the pool is really nice, one of the best, also the beach + barlounge, lovely to watch the sea. Where was this great breakfast???omelelettes pre cooked + kept warm, sausages with no meat in them, + good bacon spoiled . food was varied @ dinner but very little English food. this is not my idea of a 4star hotel, had much better over many years of travel + paid less. we requested a late check out room, this was promised but later refused, more rows until we got one for 1hr. reception + barmen speak English but not many of the other staff do so. shops were all a taxi ride away, no English bars at all, a place this big I could not believe this. NEVER again. some guests had paid £160 for sea view but only got one on the 3rd day.

Room Tip: for a view pay £160, balcony with sun overlooks building work + car park, side rooms are small + dar...

On the beach, free parking, free breakfast, free internet, gorgeous rooms... say no more. Buffet breakfast is one of the best I've seen 9/10

“A hotel of two halves.”

We are a mature couple who stayed at the Reina Isabel in August 2011. We liked many aspects of this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was pleasant and always well-cleaned. The food was excellent. We have only one tip; pay for the upgrade to a sea view. If you do not, you get a balcony that faces a sometimes busy street. Hence the two halves heading;one half has pleasant sea views, the other is not so pleasant. When we were there the Gym was out of order, but ask at Reception and you got a free pass to a Professional set-up called Vico a two minute walk away. Work was being done to make the hotel's own Gym seviceable while we were there. The free Interent access was really useful when we had to come home early following a bereavement and the staff at that time were both helpful and sympathetic. A decent Rioja cost 14 Euros in the restaurant, and yes, Cava and Vodka are available at breakfast! We liked this hotel very much, despite the City view. The double patio doors provided excellent sound insulation from the street, as no sea-view rooms were available.

Room Tip: Ensure when booking that your Travel Agent instructs the hotel to give you a sea-view room if you ha...

Really splendid hotel with friendly staff and great location. Breakfast cooked to order English sausages, back bacon and fried eggs together with other food contained in heated receptacles.
Excellent meat dishes every day.

Seventh visit this September 2011.
