We had booked several of us in for a short business trip to Berlin for a human rights NGO. When we arrived we were told that that we had one fewer room than we had booked, one name was missing, despite the fact that we had pre-paid. We coped by getting two female members of staff to share for a couple of nights. Not easy as we had work to do. After we left, the final room was discovered, it had been booked correctly, but the hotel had made a mistake in not checking us in. We assumed that we would be able to get a refund , as we had paid for a room we had been unable to use through no fault of our own. But no, Hotel Amelie has insisted on keeping the full amount and has not apologised. BEWARE and AVOID

A well-located hotel with a great intimate feel. Everything was good and clean. Free tea/coffee in the afternoons a nice touch. Breakfast was fine.
Very central location - close to restaurants, river and main tourist sites.
Entrance is unpretentious and entrance to our room was round the corner - this was no problem. Staff at reception were very pleasant.

Got a cab from the train station to the hotel. He laughed when given the address. 2 minutes later we arrived. Off the beaten path little hotel. Had to go down 5 steps to get to desk. Waiting room was large enough for 1 chair and a local attraction display. Behind the desk was a breakfast area with about 7 tables and seating for 20.

We checked in and the clerk told us to follow her to our room. Back up the steps (would have been nice to know before we hauled luggage down steps) to the street area. Walked about 20 feet from the door and came to another double door at the top of 3 steps. The clerk used our key to open the door into a small lobby and 6 more steps to the entrance foyer. Our friends used their key to open the door to the left and we used ours to open another door to the right. Inside our door was 5 rooms. We had the first room on the right and used our key to get into our room. We were surprised at first sight. Did not expect a room this nice for the price we paid. The bed was two twins shoved together, like on a cruise ship. The bathroom was the size of a cruise ship also, except the shower was smaller. The bedroom was large and offered seating for two and a desk.

Breakfast was good for a European hotel. Plenty of pastries, breads and coffee. Offered hardboiled eggs and fresh fruit and a toaster for the bread.

Be aware that this is also an apartment building. Once you enter the main doors and go up the steps, there are several mailboxes. Steps continue on up past the hotel area to the apartments upstairs.

Room tip: If you have trouble with steps, you do not want to stay here. No elevator but several sets of steps to navigate. This is not ADA Compliant so be careful.

This hotel has two buildings. We stayed in the one next door to the main facility. I requested two twins and received a mini apartment. Two separate bedrooms with sinks and a shared bathroom.

Very clean. Great breakfast and helpful staff.

Location close to main station, river and nightlife.

Highly recommend it.

I stayed in Hotel Amelie for 3 nights, the staff were very friendly and stayed later than usual as our plane was slightly delayed.

We stayed in the annex next door which was quiet and wouldn't really be a problem going next door for breakfast, however the breakfast wasn't great for me so we didn't bother after the first day. It was pretty basic but I'm sure would do the job (tea/coffee, juice, boiled eggs, cheese, ham, toast etc).

Room was pretty basic and small but to be honest, we didn't spend a great deal of time there. It was kept clean if a little dated.

Location was excellent though, about 5 mins away to Friedrichstasse station which is a hub for the airport as well as other sights in Berlin. It was about 15 mins walk to Museum Island as well.
