Every time I travel to Germany, I am once again reminded of the literal nature of the German people. In Germany, a single room very often is just what it says on the reservation slip: a room for one person with a single bed.
This often catches me out - since I prefer a room with a double bed - and I presume that this unique feature of the German Hotel comes also as a surprise to other people - particularly those from the US - where the 'single' bed has been extinct as a concept for years.
So the bed is small if you book a single room. The TV is small too, though you probably won't be watching much TV since the channels are all in German.
The room also had a fitted kitchen, which was locked off, and which I presume is only available to those paying the apratment rates. Internet is provided as an optional extra, a bit expensive, which was slightly anoying.
One point regarding the carpark: its entrance is around the back of the hotel on the adjacent street but you have to check in in order to access the direct lift. So I guess the only procedure is to park in the carpark, walk to the check-in counter via the street, and then go back to the car-park via the lift to collect your bags - it's a bit convoluted.
Aside from the above this hotel was fine - the location was very good for seeing the sights around Ulm. Everythign is within easy walking distance. Getting in and out of the carpark was easy after check-in had been completed. The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were very clean.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for decent affordable accommodation in Ulm. Just don't expect a large bed!
