“NOT a boutique hotel, cold room & uncaring staff!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2012

My husband and I stayed one night at the Hotel attimo in Stuttgart on Friday 27 April. We were happy to have found this hotel, at a decent price, so close to the Fairgrounds, so we could attend a local festival. Please read this review knowing that we have lived in Germany for two years and speak German. We are well-aware of the European standards and quality and I am not reviewing this hotel as a "spoiled American" traveler.
For a Hotel room that we payed $150 a night, not including breakfast, I do, however have a few basic requirements. The room should be clean, a good temperature and comfortable bedding. Check in went fairly well and the staff was efficient. You enter the hotel room from a main door, on the outside of the building, not where the reception is. So it actually look like you are letting yourself into an apartment building. The hallways are dark, with some rather odd artwork on the walls. The room seemed fine, at first inpection and we simply dropped off our bags and changed to go to the event. There was a small kitchenette area (fridge and counter with glassware, no microwave) and a special coffee maker provided. The bathroom was tiny, but clean- only two large towels provided. The bed was small and narrow, with only one small pillow per person.

Arriving back into the room at just before midnight, the room was COLD! I turned on the radiator, only to realize shortly that the heating system was not working. We tried searching the drawers and wardrobe but no extra pillows, sheets, blankets or towels were provided. The bed was European style "matrimonial bed"- two singles pushed together. There was a gap in the middle which we are used to seeing. What I am NOT ued to however is that when you try to lay in the middle with your partner, the two beds slid easily apart! The bases were not secured in any way. and the duvet covers seemed to be sized for a child, they did not fully cover my body and i am an avergae sized female. Since the reception at this hotel closes at 11pm, there was no way to go to the Front Desk and ask for another blanket. I tried (and failed) all night to stay warm under my limited duvet covering.

In the morning when we checked out, the staff was curt and seemed fine with not thanking us for our stay OR asking how the room was. I had to tell them "NO!" (about just taking the key & waving us off.) I explained how we had been cold & uncomfortable in the bed all night. The desk clerk informed that the heat in the whole building had already been turned off for the season. With regards to the uncomfortable bed with insufficient bedding, she had only this to say "No other guests have complained."

Not only did she not apologize or offer to make ammends (a discount or a free breakfast would have been a step in the right direction), but her answer was JUST PLAIN RUDE! This is not cusomter service. Unless you NEED to stay in this area, take the SBahn just one more stop away to the Hauptbahnhof and stay in a higher quality hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in the Hauptbahnhof area- not here!

Dear Stacey,

thank you very much for rating your stay at the attimo Hotel Stuttgart. At the beginning of the Year 2012 the hotelbuilding have been completely renovated and the renovation still goes on. It´s right that the hallways at the moment seem to be dark, but in the next weeks the hallways will be made brighten and the hallways resplendet in another view.
Thank you for the argument that the room respectivily was cleaned very well and also the bathroom. The rooms are equipped with two standard beds who are made togheter for double use. We are sorry that the beds have disappoint you. We have also doublerooms with kingsizebeds with only one big mattress. It´s pity that you haven´t told us this by arrival, after seeing the two beds in the room.
On your arrival day there was a temperatures outside of 24 till 27 degrees and in the night the temperatures droped from 22 to 16 degrees. In this high temperatures the community heating turn down the energy. This is not caused from our side and we can´t influence this. We are sorry that in spite of the temperatures your feeling cold in the this night.
Please note that our opening hours are written in each reservation channel and also in our internet website. It´s pity that we could help you on our opening hours
.
We would be delighted if you chose to visit us again to show you our good service.

kind regards,
your Team from attimo Hotel Stuttgart
