I believe we could have done better with the location, but we would have had to pay for it. That said, this hotel does have an good location: 15 minute walk from the castle and the major sites. Room was adequate as was the bathroom, but what really made the hotel stand out was the staff who went out of their way to be helpful. They also have bikes to rent at reasonable rates.

Would recommend this hotel and would return.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and decided to stay again for our second trip to Germany because we loved it so much the first time. The people who run it were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has some age but is well-kept in my opinion and is very clean. Free Internet. We were just as pleased for our second visit as we were the first.

I wonder if I was staying at the same place as all these glowing reviews refer to.
It struck me as a hotel that could do with some TLC and definitely some investment. The curtain in the bedroom barely fitted. The modifications to bring it 'up to modern standards' would have been laughable were it not so serious. A sink actually in the bedroom? I haven't seen that outside a bargan-basement hostel for years.
Two beds had been fitted into the room, end to end - I suppose to enable the higher, 'twin room' rate to be charged. By the time I stayed I was becoming used to the apparent German practice of not provding coffee-making facilities in the rooms. The hotel doesn't have a bar, either. I was repeatedly offered soft drinks but no coffee or tea. No iron or ironing board, either.
Service at breakfast was efficient, I guess, but a long way from cheerful.
The counter staff, on the other hand, were pleasant and tried to be helpful.
It's not even as if it was at the lowest end of the price chain.
Recommend only for budget travellers (but check out other laternatives) without very high expectations.
