Stayed at this hotel 3 nights, very nice, clean, big room, tasty breakfast, very good restaurant. 10 min from the city center in a very quiet residence area. Highly recommended. Good public transport.

Mentality When I check into an American hotel such as Marriott or Hilton anywhere in the world, I have a responsible expectation that it will be a good experience. Not so with the Clarion Hotel Hirschen. Every time I moved I seemed to get charged for it making for a non-welcoming environment. I usually travel for business, but this was for pleasure so I wanted a cot for my two year old daughter, they wanted to charge us 39 Euros extra. The one thing that was free was the WIFI but it was the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel, I could not even get on with my iPad! Air Conditioning on high did not work well and to top it all off, morning coffee was not free, none in the rooms either. Finally, here I thought I was going to spend around 120 Euros for the night, and the bill with all the hidden taxes and charges came to 189 Euros. I live here in Germany and realize that Germans are not the most hospitable people, but they could really take a page out of our playbook on this one. Fellow Americans stay in a B&B with a family atmosphere instead of a BMW factory.

This hotel is quiet, comfortable and well appointed, and a good base outside the main part of Freiburg. It is 7 minutes walk to the tram, which takes you straight into the city centre. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are quiet and the staff helpful. The restaurant was good, and we all agreed that the desserts are memorable (especially their homemade ice cream with seasonal fruit). The breakfast buffet is very good, although not inexpensive. Parking is available both in the hotel garage (free unless you reserve it, and then they charge you for the reservation!) and on the street. We were travelling with older teenagers and grandparents, and it was suitable for both ends of the spectrum.

I stayed there for two nights in June' 11. The rooms are pretty good. The excellent thing about this hotel is open restaurant. Breakfast was very good. The reception of the hotel is not so attractive. Overall this hotel is value for money
