Warm hospitality - cosy, clean and quiet
Great location 300 m from the ski lifts with connection to all areas

The service is superb, before we arrived the hotel phoned us to discuss the room arrangements. The rooms are slightly smaller than they appear on the website, but amply sized with lots of storage. The lounge area is warm and friendly and we spent many happy evenings there playing games and enjoying genepy. The children particularly liked the free wifi. The buffet breakfast is more than generous with fantastic hot chocolate.

We had a very pleasant stay at Le Kern and it provided everything we expected and more. Firstly the way in which we were received (late in the evening) on arriving was very welcoming and friendly. We were tired from the long transfer and Pascale made us feel immediately at home and served us drinks in the lounge even though she had already closed the bar for the night. This hotel has many positive attributes, however the energy and friendly nature of the staff places hotel Le Kern head and shoulders above many alternative accommodation options with a higher star rating in the area.

Don’t expect a superior suite with all the trappings of 4/5 star luxury, Le Kern is an unpretentious 2 star hotel and as such will not provide this. What it does provide is a warm welcome and comfortable, clean, well appointed rooms with a decent hot shower. As others have pointed out the room rate also includes a continental breakfast buffet which offers the usual cold meats, cheese, breads, croissants, yogurts etc and all the fresh tea and coffee you can drink, served between 8 am and 10 am which is useful for the occasional lie in.

The location (just off the main street) is also handy for the lifts a short 5 minute walk away and also very close to the many bars, restaurants and shops in resort.

We had an afternoon departure and Pascale was more than happy for us to leave our bags in storage and relax in the lounge whilst waiting for our airport transfer, she also offered us the use of a shower on the first floor if we wanted to ski and freshen up afterwards. This is just another example of how the staff in La Kern will go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. La Kern would be my first choice if we opt to ski in Val d’Isere next year, and I can understand why it has earned its solid reputation and high ranking on trip adviser with many of the clientele appearing to be repeat customers coming back year after year. This hotel offers good value for money in an otherwise expensive resort and we would recommend it to others without hesitation.

Nothing bad to say about this hotel - we booked for a ski weekend: location is perfect, hotel clean, staff very nice, breakfast good (hot food would be nice but for a cold buffet it's excellent) - my only 'complaint' is I wish they would provide a shower curtain so I didn't flood bthe bathroom every time! But overall highly recommended :-)
