So just left Val D'Isere and I spent 4 nights at the Avenue Lodge. I have mixed views on this hotel and basically if it wasn't 450euros a night I'm sure I would let them slip, but hard to for that price. Plus and minus's. Lets start positive, very generous sized rooms, with balconies. I was in a number of rooms as there was a group of us, I was in a standard room and the others suites, the suites basically had much larger bathrooms was the main difference.
Now negatives. Forget checking emails or anything like that, the wifi is like something from the middle ages on slowness. There is one PC in the hotel, but in my opinion for a hotel in this day and age not to have decent wifi is bad, I would prefer to pay for it than have this useless service that they give you. Dial up was quicker.
Breakfast, a nice breakfast by all means, but service dire. Really understaffed and felt a bit like faulty towers, we often giggled but also a bit frustrating.
Bar area nice, doesn't serve food which is annoying that means your only eating option is in the evenings in the restaurant which is quite rich food. Nice bar but again a bit of a fauwlty towers feeling (excuse my spelling) .
Good ski room!!! very helpful guy worked there.
Spa, yeah generally happy, not the largest pool but 2 small saunas; steam and jacuzzi pool, contemporarily decorated and comfortable to sit in.
