We arrived late at night to a fantastically friendly receptionist who gave us a map, recommended things for us to see and some places to eat. Check in was very quick and efficient and reception later helped us order a taxi and plot the best way to the airport. There is a computer in reception with internet access which we used to check in.
The room was very basic but clean with studenty looking furniture and were quite bright with largish windows. We were on the top floor of the tower so it was a bit of a walk but it was fine. The common areas are very dated and look quite grubby, however the bathroom looked new and had a good hot shower. The bed was quite low but comfortable. We had a decent view of the street being that high up and hardly any noise apart from being able to hear the person coming and going from the adjacent room.
Location is brilliant! We had debated staying closer to the train station, however I’m so glad that we didn’t as both train stations are a fairly long walk and since we were not in Lyon for long the extra walking time would have seriously impacted our time. This hotel is bang in the centre of the old town with loads of restaurants and bars seconds away. We found that on the Sunday, it was around this part of town that seemed to have the most things open too.
We got a taxi from the train station to the hotel around 9.30pm on a Saturday and it cost around 15 euros I think.
At the time this was one of the cheapest central places we could find and I would stay again unless I could find something better for the same price.
