Stayed at hotel victoria for 2 nights and here is my assessment:
1- Location: 1 min walk from Perrache train station which was very convenient for me as I was travelling by train in & out of lyon. The area is almost at the end of town & its around 10min walk to the center; however, there are tram & metro lines @ the station.
2- Cleanliness: the room I stayed in was recently renovated & it was spotless clean.
3- Space: This is the tricky part, you can not say that the room is small (I stayed in much smaller rooms), but the arrangement of the furniture & the use of space makes it feel like a really tiny room. The bed is needlessly huge which force you to move sideways when trying to reach the window, for examlple, and the bathroom/shower is really a joke. Its so tiny that almost the sink, toillet & shower are above eachother and they don't need to do that because there is a plenty of unused space in the room.
4- Amenities: There is no AC in the room, but it was september so I didn't need it anyway, they instead provide a fan & there is also a heater.
Overall, the hotel is clean & very convenient if you are travelling by train; otherwise, I might have selected another hotel.

Stayed at the Victoria Hotel in May 2010 and found the renovated rooms to be perfect for our needs. The management were very friendly and helpful. Great position near Gare Perrache Lyon, and try out Georges Restaurant across the road for a great meal!

Great location but don't expect a 4 star hotel. Rooms need to be updated but honestely one of the best deal in centre Lyon.
