My husband and I stayed with two of our adult children at Cour des Loges for three nights in January 2012. Keen to stay in the most historically interesting part of Lyon, we chose this hotel largely based on Tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed.
From the moment of our arrival we were welcomed, advised and well looked after by the hotel's outstanding concierges, Gerard, Francoise and Jean-Phillipe, and found Cour des Loges a particularly interesting place to stay. For visitors keen to explore Lyon's Medieval and Renaissance past and its narrow cobbled streets and arched passageways, the hotel's location was ideal. Originally owned by an Italian silk merchant during the Renaissance, this is a hotel with enormous character, but one in which modern conveniences are not overlooked. Our first floor rooms, situated around the beautiful internal courtyard, were pleasantly furnished, spotless and quiet and we slept soundly in the very comfortable beds. Our only minor quibble was that we would have liked a little more light in the room occasionally.
The buffet breakfast, served in the courtyard, was excellent - a delicious array provided by staff who were unobtrusive, polite and helpful. We dined once in the hotel's brasserie, and twice at local restaurants recommended by the concierges; these were all excellent and memorable meals.
Lyon deserved more than a three day visit, and we were sorry to leave this delightful hotel.
We will be back!
