Chalet Alyssa is a new chalet which has superb showers, satelite TV, use of a DVD player but most of all fantastic views and very hospitable and knowledgable hosts.
A group of five of us have just had the pleasure of staying in three of their wonderful rooms.
I shared a double room on the top floor (2nd) which also had a balcony shared with teh room next door.
The room was very clean and welcoming and the shower was always hot. ;)
Shaun has a vast knowledge of the local area and with his expertise we enjoyed 6 fantastic days of boarding. Because of Shauns understanding of the mountains and their lift systems along with the weather conditions he always took us to the best resort.
Shaun uses his own minibus to drop you at your chosen resort and then collects you at the end of the day which is fantastic. No relying on ski buses and you also know that your equipment won't get mashed by other people chucking their kit on top of yours.
Resorts I would recommend a visit to include -
Les Houches (it's worth paying for the extra lift pass coverage), Le Tour and Grand Motteret.
I'd also suggest a visit to the Aiguille Du Midi which involves taking two cable cars due to it being 3,800m+. A camera is essential and the hot chocolate can be recommended.
Some may suffer with altitude sickness even if they only visit for an hour or two. Two in our group (big strapping guys too!) suffered with dizziness and generally feeling unwell, almost drunkeness feelings. My ears popped quite a lot but as soon as we went down we were fine again.
The views are stunning but beware of the extreme temperatures and possible wind.
Overall our stay at Chalet Alyssa was great. The hosts and owners know their stuff and clearly enjoy living their dream of a life in the mountains. This positivity and happiness is reflected in their attitudes and hospitality.
I would recommend to a group definitely.
Thanks for a wonderful time and some fantastic memories. Hopefully we'll see you again! ;)
