Overall we enjoyed our stay here but strange things happened. When we arrived we were told that our reservation for a sea view room via hotels.com had been lost - the proprietor offered us a better room at the original price with balcony for six nights and a free breakfast if we would accept a basic room for the 7th. We probably came out ahead but not everyone would appreciate the uncertainty. Suggest you phone the hotel to confirm your booking.
We returned one evening to find our room door open - down to the maid I guess. We had secured our valuables and there was no sign of disturbance.
The place is seriously shabby but we didn`t mind too much - things worked generally.

We stayed at Hotel Riviera for six nights in July 2011. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast good, room big with AC, free television and free wifi. The hotel is situated next to the Tourist Information, and it is approximately a 10 minutes walk to the city centre, 15 minutes walk to the railway station with trains to the larger riviera cities and Monaco and 20 minutes walk to the beach.

I booked four night in this place .... If my first had not been a Sunday night in high season I would have left immediately .... it is unbelievably shabby and far from clean ....but I stuck it out...however, never again

A small and cosy hotel with a very nice boss and staff. Value for small money. I would be happy to go there again.
Villefranche is very close to Monaco, Cannes Nice and all the small villages. Both bus and train is very near. Be avare that the latest bus from Nice depart very early in the evening - but then there is the train from the main station (ville) in Nice - 2 stops and you are in villefranche close to the hotel.
