“Basic and friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

This hotel is basic. It's rooms are small, beds uncomfortable and it has no onsite restaurant. Having said that, the location is good if you need to work nearby, the rates are reasonable and the staff are generally very helpful. The free WiFi is handy.

The last time I stayed they did have trouble with my credit card and kept chasing me every day for a week after I left for payment.

They will serve beers in the lobby, but don't have a bar.

“Charming, good staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

This is a very charming if slightly run down hotel. The rooms are of average size, internet was provided free for one night, and the rooms have a small balcony or lead onto the garden. I found the beds a little hard and the decor in need of a refresh but the overall charm of a non-corporate style hotel won me over. This is not a hotel which could be anywhere in the world, its French its quirky and I wouldnt want it any other way. Staff speak good English and are very helpfull. I would totally recommend Taxi Vidal for anyone who requires one, and Le Bleu Lavande at the entrance to the hotel is brilliant.

“run-down as many Best Western Hotels”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2009

Don't know why but all the BW Hotels I have seen are somewhat run-down. Room furniture doesn't match much and looks randomly thrown into the room. Fax and telephone with display (has another one without) didn't work. Jakuzzi in the bathroom was broken as well (you could take a bath but no bubbles etc.) - comment of the reception: yes we know it's broken...

Positive: WLAN is for free.

“Lovely facilities but needs a makeover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

We have stayed here on several occasions. The staff are very nice and helpful and the situation, grounds and the pool are really lovely. The rooms are desperately in need of a makeover as is the bathroom. The last time we stayed here we had to change room because of a very nasty smell in the bathroom - this time it just smelt old and dirty. The cleaning was not great at all - the chambermaid took around 3 minutes to give a cursory clean. The room was on the ground floor with a shared garden behind. Because there are no net curtains, the choice was to live in the dark or be visible to all guests using the garden! Wireless Internet is now free and works very well. Such a shame about the general shabby look because the situation and the pool are really lovely. The staff couldn't be nicer and the price is fair for the area.

“Good location for sight seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2007

Spent 5 nights here my wife and I in one room and our teenage children in another. Got the rooms for 70 euros which wasn't bad value. Most of the rooms seemed to offer lovely views of the mountains. This is a different type of hotel with regards to the feel of the place. Very relaxed and informal. When we stayed during October half term holidays,it felt like we were staying in a big villa. We used the nice heated swimming pool and the neglected tennis court which could do with resurfacing (although it’s just playable).
Although there was no restaurant on site, the staff would cook an omelette, make a snack or order in a pizza for you. Drinks from the “bar” were very reasonable, compared to surrounding places. Breakfast was expensive so it’s best to pop out to a café. The hotels siting is excellent for driving to Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, Monaco and the Gorges du Verdon( breath taking).

  • Liked — the relaxed atmosphere
  • Disliked — beds were a bit hard
