It was in Hyères our last night out
This is what these lines are about
We dreamt of excellent cuisine
But what we found was more than mean
The olive paste tasted of fish
Which not declared was for this dish
From the freezer the hash browns came
Which honestly we thought a shame
The terrine of foie gras bubbled and it fizzed
Apparently recommended on Millaud’s list
When we kindly asked the staff
The answer like a nasty laugh
‘Oh sir, is it the way it should?’
‘Should it taste else, it certainly would!’
Upon we asked the chef of service
Who eagerly agreed with this
We both like food and we cook well
Our tongue still has taste in every cell
‘You may fool them, you can’t fool us
Your meal was everything but lush’
So dearest reader, please beware
Good food is not everywhere
