I stayed for 10 nights at the Mercure. So I got to know the staff, most really don't care that you are there. The exception being the front desk night manager, he would do anything, mix drinks, get towels, ect.
Like I said above it is a very clean hotel, the rooms are modern but the beds are small. If you have traveled Europe you know what I mean. The local restaurants are so much better than the hotel that I ate almost all my meals out. We had breakfast included in our rate so we did have breakfaast everyday at the hotel. It was adequate, that's all. The Breakfast staff was almost a little rude in their actions but that could be because I am from the States. Don't waste your money at the bar, ice cubes and a bartender are non-existant.
We arrived on a Saturday morning and the free internet and the air conditioning were not working it took 3 days, until Monday noon, to get repaired.
All in all the stay was OK, I felt safe in the hotel and the area.

We often stay in Mercure hotels and they are generally reliable - quite a cut above an IBIS. This one is convenient for Toulon-Hyères airport, with easy parking and a 10 minute walk from the old town. The double room with balcony on the second floor was nice, though not very big, and with the usual excellent bathroom. Although the pool area and the garden at the back were nice (if noisy), the hotel fronts onto a rather scruffy retail park. Breakfast was fine, with a good selection, but we were disappointed with evening meals in the restaurant - overpriced and mediocre food with brusque service.

Woke up in the middle of the night to find my second floor room and bed crawling with bedbugs (les punaises in french). Night porter was shocked and moved me to another room. If you have to stay here then check your room and mattress.

It's been 3 years since we stayed but I’ve just noticed that the Mercure in Hyeres (pronounced Yerr) has no reviews so here goes. Hyeres has an international airport 10 minutes from the town centre. It’s ideally located between St Tropez to the east and Marseille to the west. The bus to St Tropez will take at least an hour but the train to Marseille is about half an hour and well worth the visit.
The Mercure is at the bottom of the road that leads up to the old town. It’s about a ten minute walk and about the same distance in the opposite direction to the train station. The old town has busy restaurants at weekend but I recall most of them were closed on the Monday night we went up there. We visited the marina area during the day, which is a ten minute bus ride away, and guessed that this would be much livelier at night than the old town. The hotel was perfectly adequate and has a supermarket right next door as well as a cafeteria serving good value French food. After saving money eating in the cafeteria one night we ate in the hotel restaurant the next night. The waitress was most courteous, spoke perfect English and the meals were delicious.
There is a beach in Hyeres and a hotel there that I liked the look of was the Rose De Mer which had it’s own website.
When we arrived we thought that perhaps seven days might be too many but after exploring the local area and trips to St Tropez and Marseille we were perfectly satisfied with our choice of holiday as we were with our choice of hotel.
