“Average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

The hotel is in a good locatopn - close enough to walk into the old town for restaurants and well placed for exploring the area. We spent twelve nights in two interconnecting rooms with balconies over looking the garden. The rooms were a good size, reasonably clean on arrival, although the carpets were stained in places. The rooms were fairly basic with no proper wardrobe and no drawers although there was plenty of hanging space and some shelves. The roomsl generally was very quiet but never did get the hang of the air conditioning and would have preferred to have beenable to turn it off at night as it was quite draughty. The front desk staff were generally friendly and tried to help despite our limited French. The chambermaids however failed to clean the bathroom properly some days, didn't restock the toiletries or tea/coffee every day (meaning we had to request more at reception ourselve) and seemed to think making a bed meant just pulling up the duvet over the creased up sheets.
Breakfast in the restaurant was a plentiful buffet, with a good choice although expensive. We had one evening meal but were not particularly impressed and generallly the restaurant didn't seem well used, there were better places to eat in town and around the port.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, loved the area but with a little effort the hotel could be so much better.

Room Tip: Ones overlooking the garden are the quietest

“Flee ridden, broken air con and tv, out of date food and smelly room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

ok so I arrived at 7pm without prebooking but this shouldn't have made THAT much difference. I was given a key and when I went upstairs to my room the room number was not on the door. The receptionist came upstairs with me then showed me into a room which he explained was part of the honeymoon suite and the honeymoon couple were next door in another room with no door number.....wierd! I politely pointed out that the room was very hot and the aircon didn't seem to be working so he changed me to a room opposite. Again the room was hot so I rang down and asked for help and mentioned the musty smell in the room, The cleaner was sent in but she couldn't get the air conditioning working either so she told me to put the fan on then she tried to spray the room with an air freshener but I refused it as it was not possible to open the window either to get rid of the air freshener smell, The when i tried to watch TV at least half of the channels weren't tuned in so I had to call down again, The very helpful but helpless receptionist tried to tune in the tv but he gave up and was apologetic, In the minibar was an old sandwich which was out of date by 5 days.............lucky I checked before tucking into it! By this time it was close to 9pm and having worked all night the night before I was exhausted and frustrated but decided it was best to give up and go to sleep. 5 minutes into my sleep I felt a sting on my arm, I ignored it and went to sleep but it happened twice and I turned the light on to see something very small jump off me, From 5am onwards I got bitten alive all over my legs, arms and stomach. FLEAS!!!!!! Finally I got back to sleep at 8am only to be woken by loud knocking on the door by the cleaner asking what time I was leaving the room!!!!! I reminded her that check out was midday and not earlier, I gave up on sleeping again, packed and went downstairs to speak to the manager, He neither looked surprised or concerned and not even an apology for so much trouble. He took my list of concerns to his office and that was that, I got a reduction on the full price of over 170 pounds but I still paid over 120 pounds of r a nightmare night of no sleep.

“Tourist hotel in middle of city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

This is not a business hotel but it seems to be commonly recommended as such by locals, perhaps for lack of something better. I don't know why tourists would want to stay here instead of near the beach except to economize.

Free Internet and good signal in lobby but marginal in room.

Rooms still use lock and key instead of electronic card which might be an issue for some of you.

I have no big complaints or complements to share.

“Would not stay here again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Arrived late without a reservation and pulled into the Mercure. I had heard good things about this chain but I was wrong. After agreeing to take their suite at 240 euro per night (rack rate) and even arriving after 10PM, were we ever disappointed. First, no bath towels. Second, missing pillows. Finally, after commenting on our dirty feet did we realize the laminate flooring was filthy throughout the suite. On the deck, the furniture was covered in black dust.

Yuck! Never again.

Room Tip: Don't go.

“Couldn't fault it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

Stayed last week on business. I can't vouch for the restaurant, but every thing else was fine. Slight problem with the wash-basin plug, but I fixed that myself. It was very hot in Hyeres, but the room was fully air conditioned and comfortable. I found the bar & reception staff very helpfull. I ate at the small Vietnamese restaurant at the rear ofthe hotel (advisable to speak some French) and at the Flunch self-service restaurant at the side of the main building. Both excellent & reasonable.

Room Tip: Balcony room overlooking the pool....Double glazed, so no traffic noise.
