Considering the cost of the hotel is not much less than the hotel de Paris the service is very poor. The best aspect of this hotel is the fact that it's right by the sea and you have access to swim. The hotel itself is nice but not to the standard i would expect for the cost. The sevice is pretty poor in general. Dont expect pool side drinks unless you go looking for them or any extras and if you want a drink in the evening make sure you ask for it long before you actually get thursty !!!

We stayed for a week in March 03. Le Metropole has an excellent location on the waters edge, in the heart of Beaulieu a small quiet seaside town. This is the most attractive part of the Cote D'Azur with wonderfull coastal walks to the other villages around Cap Ferat (a car is not essential when staying here). Apart from the tastless red patterned carpet, the hotel is attractive with lovely gardens and patio areas, the staff are all 'French' - English speaking guests will have the usual difficulties. The filtered seawater pool is heated all year to 30C and the poolside changing facilities are excellent. Cuisine in the hotel restaurant is in the rather dated 'nouvelle' style (Vegetarians will struggle), however the superb 'African Queen' restaurant is located a the marina, only a few minutes walk away, with several others in the town. Also check 'La Reserve' - a pricier but altogether grander experience.

This is a beautiful property in an ideal spot for exploring the Cote d'Azur. The rooms are very pleasant - with the corner rooms especially desirable. The staff were gracious, and the grounds are lovely. A classic Relais & Chateaux. The location - right on the water - is awesome. Worth every penny. Beaulieu is a nice spot - not too crowded and very central.
