“In a Word "Perfect"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

Other reviewers have adequately captured how you will find Maison Rouge and the hostess Dominique. Our family (2AD, 2CH) stayed for 3 nights between Christmas 2010 and New Year. Our holiday consisted of visiting the UK and France over a 4 week period and our stay here was a highlight of those 4 weeks. The home is well appointed and the breakfasts were delicious and something to look forward to each day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maison Rouge and have no hesitation in recommending this B&B facility to other travelers.

“Beautiful place and amazing breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

We stayed at Maison Rouge for a couple of nights while traveling Provence with our two year old son. Dominique is a wonderful hostess, really nice and a wonderful source of information on Aix-en-Provence and the Provence. Her restaurant recommendations were amazing as were the breakfasts that she prepared for us. They are French style (of course) and included bread, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruit, coffee and hot chocolate accompanied by local honey and jams. Everything was delicious as was sharing the table with other nice guests and Dominique. She made us feel welcome and was really nice with our little one too. We had our own room and bathroom, all nicely appointed and clean. The house has parking on site and it is very peaceful. It is a 5-10 mins drive to Aix-en-Provence so having a car is definitely advisable if you are staying in this B&B. We would definitely go back.

“C'est Magnifique!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

We stayed at Maison Rouge for four nights in September in the middle of a two week trip to France and in relating stories of the trip our time there always comes up as a highlight. As you can tell from the other reviews, Dominique is a wonderful hostess, making you feel at home and giving great recommendations for the whole region. The breakfasts each day were wonderful - much better than other places we stayed where we paid extra - and served in a elegantly provencial setting.

The location is excellent as well - no more than 10 minutes from Aix-en-Provence - and convenient to the highway where it's we had no problem navigating to Marseille, St. Tropez and a day trip to Monaco.

Would recommend both the 'red house' and the hostess without hesitation and plan on making a return trip to Provence and visiting with Dominique again.

“A Godsend in Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

My wife and I spent a week at the Maison Rouge in late September and had a delightful experience there. We liked the tranquil setting just 10 minutes or so from Aix-en-Provence. From the house, all of Provence is reachable in day trips with a car. We and our friends had two of the three guest rooms in the house—both upstairs and each with its own bathroom, though down the hall. The size and cleanliness of the rooms was good. Although the decor is traditional, the house is only seven years old, as one can tell from the modern windows, bathroom fixtures, etc. The showers are great. Unlike most chambres d’hotes in France, this one provides a sumptuous breakfast, surpassing even the best American B&B’s we have stayed in. Our hostess, Dominique, spent summers in the UK as a child; she speaks good English and is very outgoing and informative. She understands what her guests are seeking and does a wonderful job of providing it. If they are the least bit unsure what they want to do in the area, she happily provides guidance. After our daytime travels, we often had dinner in Aix, where favorite restaurant was the Bistro Latin. We count ourselves very fortunate to have found the Maison Rouge. We chose it sight unseen and based mostly on the rave reviews from people of all nationalities in Trip Advisor, which were entirely justified and which confirm the value of this service.
