We have just got back from La Rochelle and stayed in Le Yachtman. The hotel is in a perfect position. Easy walk to centre, train station (and buses to Ile de rae Island), aquarium and also the beach which is about a 10 minute walk away. The staff at the hotel were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The pool was kept extremely clean and we quite often had it to ourselves. The hotel felt safe and it was very peaceful at night. The breakfast was delicious, you could help yourself to as much as you liked. A good choice of food avaliable. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to go back one day. Thank you to all the staff.

Our room OK, but only one chair - two would have been better. Room safe would have been welcome. But the breakfast at 14 euros was not good value. The hot food - bacon and eggs, same every morning - looked like the dregs of leftovers. Every morning I had to ask for marmalade which was kept hidden in a cupboard - why not just put it out! The coffee machine produced tasteless coffee, almost undrinkable. I really grudged the 196 euros I had to pay when we checked out. It was however in an excellent spot albeit very close to druggies/ alcoholics living rough in the park opposite. Pretty pool area to sit and read books.

We stopped overnight at Le Yatchman in La Rochelle having visited the city before and wanted some more time there.

The hotel is only small and the rooms are about the same but they are clean and well presented and the hotel has a pool, bar and restaurant. The main reason we chose it was the the location, directly opposite the marina it is in a fantastic spot, you really couldn't ask for better.

For the money this is a great place to stay.

I stayed two nights in September and found the hotel very welcoming and in an excellent location. There is little space for sunbathing round the pool: I think it is a place for drinking and eating rather than anything else. Room was OK, nothing special and the restaurant was friendly enough although the food was not brilliant.However I would certainly visit the hotel again.
