Our three-night stay at Le Clos Bourdet began with confusion, but was remedied soon thereafter. Upon arrival in Honfleur, we drove straight to the B&B, but passed the tiny sign for the entrance. As soon as we realized our mistake, we also realized we were on a one-way street, and getting back to Rue de le Bourdet was an adventure! Jean-Claude showed us to a room which was not the one we reserved, but then changed us to another which we had also not reserved, but which was lovely and comfortable. Our lack of French, and Jean-Claude's lack of English are what contributed to the mix-up, I'm sure. All in all we were very happy with our choice of this B&B in Honfleur.
The house itself is lovely, and the furnishings and decor are unique. You could stay for weeks and not see all the treasures from around the world, including Jean-Claude's beautiful photographs.
Breakfast is wonderful with fresh pastries, homemade jams & jellies, and many other treats, and it is served in an elegant dining room with picture windows overlooking the town and estuary.
It's location on a hill just a ten-minute walk from the Vieux Bassin is so convenient, and yet you are in a serene, private area removed from the hustle and bustle of the village.
Fan & Jean-Claude are hospitable and interesting--making you feel you would like to spend more time getting to know them.
