I understand rooms differ in size but we had Room 103 on the first floor. It was a good size and well decorated. The shower in the bathroom was simple to use and very effective. Beds were VERY comfortable. The room was quiet at night. TV channels were mostly French but BBC World News was available in English. Other TV services can be bought in but we didn't see the need for this. The room safe was simple to use (they often aren't).
Corridor carpets are a bit shabby but generally the hotel is clean and bright. Hotel staff were helpful and spoke good English. We didn't use the Bar which seemed a bit expensive but they are happy to lend a corkscrew if you want to consume your own wine in your room.
The Hotel is close to the central Stanislas Square in one direction and to the Excelsior Restaurant (a must see and preferably eat) and Station in the other. Our party had a coach for journeys around town but most places can be reached by walking without too much wear and tear. There are plenty of restaurants just off the northern side of Stanislas Square. For travelling further around town under your own steam there are plenty of bus routes and what is called a tram but is really a guided trolleybus system. As we did not need to use these I cannot say how easy it is to get tickets but services seemed very frequent. For Art Nouveau fans there are plenty of buildings to be seen. The Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy is exceptionally good and visits to the Villa Majorelle are possible on Saturdays. The Musee des Beaux Arts was undergoing refurbishment but we understand it has a great deal to offer when it reopens. Over this Winter (2011-2012) there is a Jacques Gruber Exhibition at the Salle Poirel which should not be missed.

Checking in was simple as we pre booked online, the room was large, enough space for all our motorcycle gear. Secure parking was also prebooked and was easy to access when arriving, essential when arriving on a motorbike. The bed was large and comfortable with quality bedding , it was a good night's sleep after a long day's riding. The breakfast was fresh and well presented. Simple to check out and on our way again to Calais very quickly. This is why I use Mecure Hotels when traveling in France.
