We are just back from spending 3 nights at Le Jardin de la Cite. We booked it purely on the excellent recommendations by previous reviewers on TA. We were made welcome by Ben who ensured that we were comfortable, he supplied us with a map and made recommendations of what to see and where to eat.
The room was clean and welcoming, the bathroom very modern with lots of lovely hot water. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, with lots of pillows - a fault of some B&B's who provide one only and seem rather upset if you ask for another one!
Having read previous reviews we were aware that the guest house was not easy to find. So armed with directions from Via Michelin we were fairly confident, but even their directions weren't clear. Eventually after a phone call we found our destination. In fact we had driven past it twice! Simple directions for those with no G.P.S. From which ever direction you arrive at Carcassonne simply follow signs to La Cite. The road is then signposted La Cite 2000 parking places (or something on those lines) Follow this road, go down the hill, going slowly. The road splits and the sharp right turn goes to the first lot of car parks, the main road continues on round a sharp bend. BEFORE the bend and on that junction more or less IN FRONT of you is La Jardin de la Cite. The sign is yellow and brown. On the right is a no entry sign for buses and the entrance is immediately before that. It's so obvious once you see it.
The views of the Cite are magnificent particularly at night. We travelled in October (4-7) and spent 3 nights there. There were not as many tourists but the majority of restaurants and gift shops were open still. We had an excellent meal at Auberge Duc du D'oc, they had a special offer on with a bottle of wine to take away if you bought a €25 menu or higher, we left with 2 bottles which we hadn't expected as nothing had been mentioned at any time whilst we were there!
Room Tip: We had a room that cost €100 per night inc. a huge breakfast. It was very comfortable with a private...
