The hotel was good: peaceful, good decor, professional staff.
The room was small-ish, but that's to be expected. With TV, big shower with properly sized glass to prevent flooding the bathroom. Tea set in the room filled daily.
The breakfast area was large enough with 24-hour tea/coffee station (for a fee). The breakfast itself was the best we had in France so far: a variety of pastries, yoghurts, spreads, a separate BIO station with good variety, and a hot station with scrambled eggs (spices change daily), sausages, and bacon. Tip: if you want eggs, better come 1 hour before breakfast end time - they usually run out after. We made use of the separate tea/hot chocolate/espresso station every breakfast and weren't charged extra for it.
All this was good but for one big problem: we stayed 4 nights and they did not change the sheets once!! We noticed because I accidently left a lipstick stain the first night we were there. The last night we came to what we thought were clean sheets only to find out in the morning that they simply flipped them...
We should've mentioned it to reception, but every morning we had that hope that they would change it today. And in the evening, after a full day of walking around Paris we did not feel like waiting for housekeeping to change them.
In general, we still didn't mind staying in this hotel (you don't change sheets at home every day, do you?) as it was a decent and inexpensive base for exploring Paris over New Year's. Same level hotels were much more expensive than this hotel + train tickets to and from Paris. Paris centre is 25 min by train and it places you within minutes of Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Invalides, etc. Very convenient.
This hotel is 10 min walk from Versailles Chateau station with suitcases and 5 min without. Don't even hope for a taxi: I tried to get one on New Year's night coming back from Paris. I sat down in the taxi and, even after promising a double fare, I was manhandled out. I am pregnant and the taxi driver knew it.
So overall, I would recommend a stay in this hotel, but if you're staying for a longer period, ask reception to change sheets. Don't hope for the best.
Tip on booking: booking.com listed the rate with breakfast not included. The hotel website listed the same price but with breakfast and a nice "explore Versailles" package. It's worth booking through the hotel website.
