“Versailles and Paris”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

The hotel was used as a base for 4 adults and 2 children (ages 6 & 3) to visit Paris. Hotel is within 10 minutes of RER station (21 minutes to Eiffel Tour). It is also within walking distance, 15 minutes of Versailles itself. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within 10 minutes of hotel and greetings were friendly, and staff helpful, at the two we visited with the children. Parking not great but plenty near by (37 Euros for 40 hours in underground secure park). Good breakfast with plenty of choice, but not cheap. Room for 2 adults and 2 children quite small but adequate. Staff, at hotel, helpful with advice on local area and transport links to Paris. Bathroom slightly tired with seals, on shower door, torn, but overall clean and tidy. Also despite being in the middle of town, very quiet, good nights sleep

“Excellent breakfast, comfortable, but don't change bedsheets”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The hotel was good: peaceful, good decor, professional staff.
The room was small-ish, but that's to be expected. With TV, big shower with properly sized glass to prevent flooding the bathroom. Tea set in the room filled daily.
The breakfast area was large enough with 24-hour tea/coffee station (for a fee). The breakfast itself was the best we had in France so far: a variety of pastries, yoghurts, spreads, a separate BIO station with good variety, and a hot station with scrambled eggs (spices change daily), sausages, and bacon. Tip: if you want eggs, better come 1 hour before breakfast end time - they usually run out after. We made use of the separate tea/hot chocolate/espresso station every breakfast and weren't charged extra for it.

All this was good but for one big problem: we stayed 4 nights and they did not change the sheets once!! We noticed because I accidently left a lipstick stain the first night we were there. The last night we came to what we thought were clean sheets only to find out in the morning that they simply flipped them...
We should've mentioned it to reception, but every morning we had that hope that they would change it today. And in the evening, after a full day of walking around Paris we did not feel like waiting for housekeeping to change them.

In general, we still didn't mind staying in this hotel (you don't change sheets at home every day, do you?) as it was a decent and inexpensive base for exploring Paris over New Year's. Same level hotels were much more expensive than this hotel + train tickets to and from Paris. Paris centre is 25 min by train and it places you within minutes of Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Invalides, etc. Very convenient.

This hotel is 10 min walk from Versailles Chateau station with suitcases and 5 min without. Don't even hope for a taxi: I tried to get one on New Year's night coming back from Paris. I sat down in the taxi and, even after promising a double fare, I was manhandled out. I am pregnant and the taxi driver knew it.

So overall, I would recommend a stay in this hotel, but if you're staying for a longer period, ask reception to change sheets. Don't hope for the best.

Tip on booking: booking.com listed the rate with breakfast not included. The hotel website listed the same price but with breakfast and a nice "explore Versailles" package. It's worth booking through the hotel website.

“Adequate,”

but no personality. A cookie cutter middling modern business travel hotel. Because it's far removed from the tourist traffic that flows from the Rive Gauche train station to the chateau & gardens, on a quiet side street, a peaceful night's sleep is assured. If you are carrying luggage, the long walk from the station will get you fit for the longer walk to the tourist venues. One minor, but vexing problem with our room layout - the TV screen is suspended right in the path at the foot of the bed that one is certain to take in darkness on the way to the bathroom. Unless you are a midget, there's a grave risk of running into it face first.

“Tiny Hotel in the heart of Versailles”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This is a Mercure hotel in walking distance of the castle. It is clean and the staff is friendly, if there would not be a significant flaw and that is the size of the rooms. They are ridculously tiny and even in a double bedroom you are posed wit the challenge to store your suitcase. The garage is so small that you have to leave the keys at the reception so they can maneuver the cars if needed. Breakfast is ok.
Bottom line is it is too small and too tiny.

Room Tip: If you don't have a tiny car don"t go there

“great stay for work”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I stayed here for just 1 night, again for a work course, back in April. It was a really nice stay. The room wasn't that big relative to other hotels where I've stayed, but if I'm staying by myself, I prefer it that way as long as it fits me and my bag comfortably. The room was really clean and had a slightly more cozy atmosphere than the usual chain hotels. Breakfast was great. I had no problems staying here and think it's perfect for those who are used to staying at hotels like this for work or pleasure.
