I visited last spring and had a very good overall experience at the Hotel du Cheval Rouge. The hotel is perfectly located with a marketplace and plenty of dining options literally right outside the door. In addition, it has free parking in the courtyard! The rooms were nothing fancy or special, in need of updating, actually, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to the tourist traveler who needs a good place to stay at night while trying to take in all that is Versailles...

Room and public areas a little dated but overall a very enjoyable stay. Great to have free secure parking. Breakfast a bit pricey but nice all the same. Room price very good value considering the location. Great market on the doorstep. Some of the restaurants nearby seem to take advantage of their location and charge huge prices but there are also some with great value so be carefull!

This 3-star hotel has rooms that are clean, up-to-date, modern with a little charm thrown in. The French windows in the room are open often with French balcony outside. The parking lot sits below, but we never were disturbed by noise. It was such a help to have that parking lot, given that we were motoring. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is an easy walk to the Palace of Versailles about 15 minutes away. At night our little corner of the square was blessed with some delicious and affordably priced restaurants. During the day the open food market around the corner puts you at the center of color and activity. We were glad we opted to stay in Versailles for two nights instead of joining the herds hustling by train back and forth to Paris. This is great little "no-nonsense" hotel. Go!!

The hotel is just on the market square, rooms are distributed part in the main building and part inside the court: we got one of them, and it was really quite. Friendly staff (got immedialy an hairdryer upon request), reasonable continental breakfast buffet. Perfect position to wander in the center and 5-10 minutes walk to the wonderful castle. Could do with some more hanging points in the (small) bathroom and with a mirrow in the room, but overall it's a good hotel in perfect position (also railway station for Paris is few minutes walking away) at a very reasonable price.
