Residence du Palais review
My friend & I (both 28 year old single females) stayed at Residence du Palais for two nights on May 26 & 27.
We arrived at 11:00am and were easily able to check-in at that time. If you're arriving before 8am or after 8pm, contact them to make plans for checking in.
The hotel is actually in a residential building, so it's slightly hard to find. Just pay attention to the building numbers/address when looking. Once you hit the button to enter the building, go up to the second floor and enter the office. They will give you your keys.
Our room was #18 on the fourth floor. There is an elevator, but for the two of us with large backpacks, we barely fit inside. Very small. The room had two beds (one twin, one full), as well as a small terrace, tv, and a shower & sink inside the room. The toilet is in the hallway, which looks like just a regular apartment building hallway.
Beds were very comfortable and warm. No complaints there.
The shower is TINY and hard to move around inside - but very clean and the water was warm.
They also do supply you with towels, but there is no hand soap.
When making your way to the hotel, take the RER blue line B south to the Place Royal stop. Head toward the fountain behind the Metro station & make a left onto Rue d'Assas. The hotel is about 5 blocks away on your left, right next to a restaurant called the News Cafe. We did eat lunch at the cafe and it was delicious.
All in all, I recommend this hotel. It's very quiet & quaint. A great find if you desire quiet and comfortable room with your own shower and don't mind sharing a toilet with the rest of the floor. We never once saw another soul on the floor though, never had to wait for the restroom.
I do think there are more fun, hip areas to stay in Paris (Montmarte, closer to the Eiffel Tower, closer to Notre Dame in the Latin Quarter), especially if you are young like us. But honestly, I have no complaints about the hotel itself. Very lovely & reasonably priced for those on a tight budget.
