we stayed, two adults and one 9 year old child, in room 519. this room from a star had an amzing view of the Eifell tower (which at night sparkles on the hour every hour). The room was maybe slightly dated however it had all that was needed except for a kettle to make coffee. The rooms were cleaned every day and the beds made. The hotel also feels very secure and the area in which it is situated felt very safe. The breakfast buffet was good value for 8 euros each (children were free) and there is free internet access. The Dupleix station is a few mins walk away and around it you can find nice bistors, supermarkets, grocery stores etc. the satff in this htoel were very friendly and helpful and we would definately return to stay here.
as for paris, what can i say that has not been said already except for.....when you are approached by people with clip boards at all the famous attractions eg eiffel tower, notre dame etc etc...wave them away as they are roma children who use the clip boards to shield their hands as they try to pick pocket you. Under no circumstances stop for them . Also watch out when going up to monmartre village and the cathedral, there are gangs that will approcah you with a bit of string and try to wrap in around your wrist...tell them to go away as soon as they approach you as it gain they are trying to rob you. Why the french police turn a blind eye to such activity is beyond me.
Apart from the paris is a wonderful city, though expensive, and we had the 'time of our lives'.
