We visited L'Orangerie the day after Musee d'Orsay across the Seine. M d'O was really overwhelming - but L'Orangerie is simpler with a magnificent collection but small enough not to exhaust. Though both are must-dos in Paris.
Paul Guillame's collection downstairs is an eclectic mix of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism plus, with Modigliani, Monet, Renoir, Utrillo, Rousseau, Verain and Picasso etc. Stunning.
However the highlight are the 2 oval rooms on the top floor devoted to Monet's massive lily canvases. Great to be here on a winter's day with few people to obscure the view but sunny so the filtered light warmed these rooms.
Beautiful...
And the building itself, ain't half bad!
