“Great location, decent value.”

We stayed here for one night, on our arrival into France. I had prebooked the "blue" jr. suite, at 185 euro for a family of 4. When we arrived, they initially tried to put us in a small, hot room that had a small pull- out sofa bed made up for the two kids (8 and 10 -- I don't think so.) I went straight back to the front desk, where after a bit of trying to convice me that was acceptable, they did in fact give us two spacious interconnecting rooms with air conditioning. They no longer had the jr. suite available, and I am not sure if they were perhaps trying to pull a fast one by attempting to stick us in the small room, but they did sort it out quickly. The rooms were spotless, and while it was not luxurious, it was nice enough. They were perfectly friendly, and parking was included in an underground car park. Breakfast was not included, so we ate out. The location is by far the best reason to come here. Literally one minute to the gates of the palace, and plenty of places to eat nearby. In all, we felt it was good value, but not if they had tried to keep us in the small room. Be very clear about what room you are booking is my advice. Also, be aware that this hotel goes by the name Hotel, as opposed to Atel. Causes confusion.

“A great location, good value”

We stayed at the Hotel Le Versailles (not sure where Atel bit comes from, don't believe this is a chain anymore?) for one night and found it a great hotel for a visit to the palace. I had initially thought about Sofitel for location as we were on a tight time scale but was reluctant to pay much higher rate for just a bed for the night. Travelling with a three year old also played a major factor in this. Its a clean hotel, with private underground car park which is difficult to manoeuvre round but secure. We had a nice big room with an extra bed for our little one. Very near to the gates of the palace which was ideal. Eating in Versailles was a little more tricky, a bit of a walk as everything centred around "Les Halles" (the covered market area) but once there lots of choice althought I wouldn't the American Style restaurant for fine dining!
Breakfast at the hotel was great lots of choice and plenty still available even though we were last down. All in all, a good hotel for a visit to the Palace which is beautiful and heaving with visitors. Tip: If Golf Cart not appealing take the little "hop on hop off" train. Visit Petit Trianon and gardens they are beautiful but only open after 12noon !

“Average hotel but good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

I stayed at this hotel for four nights on a sightseeing / shopping tour with my friend. I chose the hotel mainly because of the price and location. The location of the hotel could not be faulted - one minute from the Chateau of Versailles, which could almost be seen from the door, and only a few minutes walk from any of the railway stations serving Versailles which meant that we never had to walk far in Paris to get a train back to Versailles. As for the price - although not unreasonable, having spent one night of our stay at the Sofitel in Versailles, I think that I would spend the extra money next time and stay there for the whole week, but only if I could get a deal - otherwise, the Atel le Versailles was fine, the room was large, and the staff friendly. There was also a garage available (€15 per night) which I found useful.

“Good Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2006

Arrived in Versailles with nothing booked and no idea at 9pm on a rainy night and after driving around for an hour looking for a hotel chain we recognised - and finding none, decided to stop at the next hotel and landed here! What a lucky find, three star rated but moving up, excellent rooms - very large with balcomy and over street view. Situated about 50 yrds from palace entrance down a side street, good parking - secure and undergound. Hotel staff very helpful and accomadating - provided maps etc.

Only drawback is hotel is being refurbished and there was some building noise, however only after 9am and always stopped by time we got back - the management are booking rooms away from the work so this was only a monor inconvenience.
