For my first trip to Europe on March 21 - 28, 2004 (birthday) I picked the Paviliion St. Augustin. It was not memorable but my secretary sent us a bottle of wine with a note on hotel stationery that I saved in my scrapbook.
I do not recall how much we paid for the trip; however, I was very ill for the first couple of days and barely left the tiny room. I had expected a tiny room though since Europe is sort of known for tiny hotel rooms, just like here in New York.
Once I did feel okay enough to venture out with my then boyfriend, we found that the hotel was in a good location. We were able to navigate the metro system easily (we are New Yorkers). We visited the Eiffel Tower (10,40 euro), the Lourve ( 8,50 euro back then), Rodin Sculpture Garden and we also took a day trip to Versailles. We also took a boat cruise on Bateaux-Mouches which was fun.
I would rule this hotel out now, but for my first trip to Europe it wasgreat for getting to all the major attractions.
