“Old Paris”

The hotel is located in the Latin Quarter, across the river from Notre Dame. If you like this area (I always stay in this area), you can't do better. The hotel has all the ambience of an older Parisian hotel. I stayed there twice this trip, and both rooms were pretty small (the second was extremely small), but the prices were most reasonable. The bathrooms are modern, though small. I was content to be in basic accommodations such as these in Paris since it seemed quite old school, and I was rarely in the room. I would not want to get sick and spend a full day in the room, however. For short stays, I would happily stay here again. The hotel runs an excellent restaurant. The breakfasts are good and include fresh-squeezed OJ.

“Location, Location, Location”

Most of our European hotel recommendations come from 'Trip Advisor' and 'Charming Small Hotels' and Les Degres Hotel du Notre Dame came from both sites. This quaint establishment offers comfortable and generally small rooms except for room 501 which is huge. If you choose 501 please make sure your legs are sturdy as the narrow stairs to the 5th floor can be a fete. If you have baggage a staff member is eager to assist. All staff members are very friendly and most helpful. A very good continental breakfast awaits you each morning to begin your walks around Paris. The hotel also provides a reasonble delicious dinner menu.
Notre Dame, the Marais, and St. Germain des Pres are but a stones throw from the hotel. We've already booked our room for our next visit in Spring.

Room Tip: One could throw a party in 501 and the bathroom is quite spacious!

“Excellent location and very friendly staff!”

I have just come back from a three night stay at the hotel and I agree entirely with the comments about the perfect location and the very friendly staff. My husband and I were staying in room 24 which was full of character, clean and comfortable although my only criticism was the bathroom was in need of redecoration and the wifi didn't work unless you sat downstairs in the restaurant area. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and the food was delicious, they also do a very reasonable lunch menu and judging by the crowds on Friday it's a very popular location!

“Great location, Great value, Great Hostesses!”

We spent out 10yr anniversary in Paris and stayed here for several nights. The hotel itself is, as many others have noted, very charming. The rooms were clean, large enough and very comfortable. We stayed in Rm 41, with views of Notre Dame. We took the RER from CDG and after a 40min ride, got off the train, walked 2 blocks and were there. So convenient. Every morning we started with the hotel breakfast, which was included...fresh OJ and baked bread were incredible. From there it was walk across the street to the batobus and you were off. I would stay here again when I return to Paris.

Room Tip: 501 is the largest and has the best views. We had rm 41 and it was very nice as well. Be prepared...

“Great Location, but not worth it.”

As other reviewers have noted, great location, able to walk everywhere, close to metro. The rooms are a bit older, lots of mold. My boyfriend's allergies went crazy from it, but that would be true of almost all older buildings in Paris. On a return trip I would choose a less central location and get a little more for my money. Yes the rooms are small, old, and damp - but for the price you would not get anything better in that location. In fact we stayed at Hotel des carmes in the same neighborhood around the same price point, but it was a little worse than Les Degres. The highlight was the wonderful breakfast that was included, bread, fresh juice, cafe au lait, and yogurt or cheese.
