It's taken me 2 months to get around to writing this review, but here I go.
We read some of the reviews for this Hotel, Nouvel Hôtel Eiffel, and weren't to sure what to expect, the reviews were mixed and up to a point we wondered whether to stay elsewhere, but, I have to say that the Hotel was fine. We paid £310.00 for a 5 day break, staying 4 nights on a room only basis, and yes the rooms are small, but you're out virtually all day, and yes the rooms could maybe do with a freshen up with a coat of paint, but they weren't bad.
We had a room on the first floor, directly over the front door to the hotel, facing onto the street, and didn't find it noisy, I slept like a log, which is unusual for me when sleeping in a bed that's not my own!! The bathroom had been done up, and was lovely, quite a powerful shower and plenty hot water, we found the staff friendly and helpful.
We also found plenty bars, shops and eating places in the area surrounding the Hotel, as we were on a room only basis we picked up sandwiches and soft drinks in one of the several supermarkets and mini markets in the surrounding area for breaky first thing in the mornings, and we ate at night in the reastaurents in the area too, and found them all reasonably priced with good selections on their menus. My partner doesn't speak or read French so he struggled understanding the menus, I have O Level french so I could get by understanding what was on offer, the French don't seem to have menus in other languages, so this could cause a problem for some travellers. Can add in here that when walking around central Paris we came upon various street vendors and shops selling picnics for 7 euros, which we bought 3 days in a trot, good value for money, and you'd get a choice of things like a slice of quiche, or a filled baguette, or a pack of sandwiches, plus a slice of cake, or a pastry, plus a bottle of water, or a soft drink like a bottle of cola or fanta orange, then pick a spot and sit and enjoy!!
The Hotel is minutes from one of the main metro lines for getting around Paris, which is great, but we also sometimes walked into the centre of Paris, for example, the first morning we walked to the Eiffel Tower and it took us about 20-25 minutes, which is good for me as I am a slow walker, and 2 or 3 times we walked back to the Hotel after being out all day, so the metro isn't always necessary, depends where you're going.
We brought our travel kettle for the room, along with our double travel plug, which gave us plenty sockets for charging our 2 mobile phones overnight, and then used the double travel plug in the morning for my hairdryer and using the travel kettle at the same time, some comments about the rooms said there wasn't enough electric sockets but we didn't find that to be the case in our room, and as I said we brought along our double travel plug, which overcame any problem that we may have had.
At the end of the day, you only get what you pay for, we weren't expecting "the Ritz" standard - but for £310 for a 5 day/4 night stay, the Nouvel Hôtel Eiffel is value for money, and I would stay here again.
