We stayed here at the end of September and on our way back from Rome at the beginning of October. The hotel is very ornate in an old-fashion French-ornate style. Excellent for people on the go, not modern at all. But it has free Wi-fi and the Staff is very helpful and attentive, they give good tips, there's a little market/convenient store and a metro station just around the corner. GHC has a decent breakfast and you can't ask for a better location when visiting Paris.
There's all kinds of restaurants around the corner near Les Halle's. Walking distance to Pont Nuf, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, St Mitchell, Louvre and D'Orsay. For around 20€ more, ask for a balcony room, you can buy chocolate croissants by St. Mitchell the night before and have breakfast with a great Parisian view!

Good hotel in a fantastic location , just a short walk along the riverbank or the rue de rivouli to le louvre or a similar distance in the opposite direction to Norte dame, the rooms are quite small but it is a very old house converted, so very understandable . We would have no problem staying in this hotel again

Located close to Les Halles, Louvre, Notre-Dame and Centre Pompidou as well Rivoli street if you are into shopping. Old style decorations in a very old building. Our 'superior' room did have a queen size bed which covered almost all of the floor. Taking a shower makes you want to make a drastic diet. One gets all the amenities of a 4 star hotel, except for the space one lacks there. If you must be in this area (chatelet), then it certainly is a good candidate for stay.

Dear Sir, Dear Madam,
Our entire team thank you very much for your visit and for your time to share your experience at our hotel with Tripadvisor users.
As you could see during your stay, our building is a very old one, and we decided to keep the atmosphere of the originaly construction, that's why some of the rooms are smaller than other and also bathrooms are diferent. The best is to ask for another choice if you dont feel as comfortable as you wish.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcome you again.
We wish you the best,
Mme Lauferon / Owner

The location couldn't be better...within walking distance from the Louvre, d'Orsey, Champs Elysees, Conciergerie, Tour Saint-Jacques, Notre Dame, and a lot more of Paris iconic attractions.
The place is rubbing shoulders with Rue Rivoli and with everything that comes with it...shops, bars, cafes and restaurants!
The hotel it shelf has a very parisiense deco, the rooms are functional and clean. They are not big, but they are large enough.
Chatelet Metro station is just two steps way.
The wifi is free.

Our entire team thank you very much for your visit and for your time to share your experience at our hotel with Tripadvisor users.
For us it is always a pleasure to know that our guests have been comfortable and have a good memory of our city and our hotel.
We wish to say that about homeless people, we are sharing efforts together with neighbourgs and restaurants around the area and asking to the autorities to take more seriusly this situation, and we expect this situation will be solved.
Please be sure that we do our best for keeping our place as safe and clean as we can.

Located on the corner of two streets that would be called alleys in the US, the Grand Hotel Dechampaigne is a charming 3-star hotel in central Paris, just off the Rue de Rivoli. The Louvre, Notre Dame, Centre Pompidou and the Seine are within easy walking distance. But if you want to go further afield, the entrance to the Chatalet/Les Halles Metro station is just a few steps away.
Inside, the hotel is tastefully furnished and the rooms are all different, each with its own charm. The breakfast was generous by French standards, the crescents as good as you will find anywhere in Paris. The elevator is rather small but adequate. The staff is friendly and efficient, and all speak a form of English.
You do need to look past the homeless people who inhabit the area. They like this location since the nearby Metro station can provide shelter on cold nights and there are plenty of places to sit near the hotel. It has been my experience that there seems to be an unwritten code between the homeless and the authorities--don't bother the tourists and we won't bother you.
I've stayed in six different hotels in this area and can say without reservation that this is the best hotel available.

Room tip: Splurge on a room with a balcony if you can.
