WE found this on the Logis de France website. It is just outside Le Puy itself, and as a result is much quieter and really quite a good option if you are planning a visit to this wonderful area. The location is pleaantly suburban, near a small river, and about 2km from town. There is a large private car park. It is pretty easy to find (and quite large for the area) though we managed to drive past it once!

The hotel is quite modern, but not garish (as can be the case in France) - the public rooms are spacious, and the bedrooms (ours at least) rather less so. Nevertheless it is all smart and well maintained. The manager and staff were helpful and friendly, and we were very happy for one night. For what is on offer, we think this was very good value.

We enjoyed the restaurant menu and food, but the service, whilst initially enthusiastic, got slower and slower as the evening wore on. Insufficient staff seemed to be on duty, as the restaurant was proving very popular. Be sure to check out the cheese trolley - if your patience lasts that long!

This hotel is only a short drive to the car park outside the old town. It has a big car park and no charge.
The rooms are like a UK Travel Lodge; clean, functional, not overly big, but perfectly adequate for a short stay.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when we were there but breakfast was fine. The French are not big on breakfast but there was plenty of choice.
The staff are incredibly friendly. The young lady on reception seems to do everything! Cleans floors, take bookings, opens up the bar. Nothing is too much trouble.

Spent one night here en route home to England.

When I booked I was offered a room "cote riviere", which led me to expect a view of a sizeable river, but in fact it is a little stream, not much more than the town drain! The view, therefore, is largely the shops and houses on the hillside opposite.

However, the room was comfortable, a reasonable price, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant served good food and wine at modest prices and the head waiter goes out of his way to make guests feel welcome without being over-attentive.

A very convenient place to stop over and see the fascinating town of Le Puy. It has ample parking and is quieter than the city.

The welcome was very good, very nice young woman who spoke English. The room was tiny and the bathroom miniscule. As we were only staying for one night we didn't make a fuss. The hotel shines in its restaurant. The food was excellent and the experience was made very enjoyable by the gentleman in charge of the restaurant who was very funny and made our meal very enjoyable.
