We stayed here 2 nights while sightseeing in the city. Room was spacious, plain, with the best lighting we have found in a room anywhere recently! Bathroom was OK - no shower curtain on tub/shower combo; plush towels + bathrobes! Hotel is on a very busy street, so even though we were on the "quiet side", we still got a lot of street noise. We did not eat in the hotel, but got breakfast from nearby patisserie. Walking distance to major sites and plenty of restaurants. Hotel has a very small garage with very tight parking - we let the desk clerk park our car for us. (note: charge for parking). There might have been street parking, and there was a large public parking lot nearby.

Hotel Regina is very well placed to sample the sights of Le Puy. The hotel is clean and good value for money although our room looked a little tired in places and could have done with a bit of a revamp. On the other hand is was a good size and away from the main road where I can imagine it would be a bit noisy.
The breakfast buffet offered a good selection and the secure off-street parking at 6.50 Euros was good value although be warned if you have anything larger than a Toyota Yaris or equivalent as it was rather tight!

This was our second visit to Le Regina. The room was fine, but the restaurant is superb. Worth the trip just for the dining experience. You are in the heart of France, and the staff is courteous, and very accomodating.

The evening dinner at the attached restaurant was perfect in every way. Excellent service, great entrees, great agneau, and deserts, and a excellent choice of wine.

Our best dining experience in 16 days of gourmet travels in France. Well worth the trip, and a great place to visit by car.

The location of the hotel is ok, but that is about the only positive aspect to this hotel. I have stayed in hundred's of hotel's and I have been lucky enough to travel across most of europe and the United States, so I have solid experience of what should be expected of a 3 star hotel.

Following the reviews on this website, I booked a night's stay at this hotel. The street on which it is located is very second hand, and shabby. Many of the guests staying in the hotel commented on the derprived state of the area, with many shifty charecters on the streets during night time hours. It did not feel safe walking the streets at night.

The Hotel is street front onto this area, the reception is very small and tight.

The room was dark and dingy. The bed's did not appear to be clean. The rooms had a sign up saying that animals we're allowed to stay in the hotel at 4 euro's per night.

The carpets we're dirty, the television didn't work. The furnishings were shabby. and tired. (There a gap between the door frame and the wall!).

When we arrived we felt like checking out of this hotel but we had a long drive and we were tired. And there did not seem to be any where else to stay for miles. This hotel should not be classed as a 3 star, more like a 1 star hotel.

We spoke to other guests and they had the same opinion.

Avoid this hotel.
