“Wonderful Hotel”

We pulled into Le Puy in the early evening after a long day driving through the Gorges du Tarn on our way north from Carcassonne. We stopped at several hotels in town to discover them fully booked.

At the Ibis hotel the manager said he thought he knew of a vacancy... "But I must tell you", he said...
"it is the most expensive room in town... a suite." My wife, daughter and I were tired so I said sure,
no problem. He made a quick phone call ... yes, the room was available...then gave me instructions
on how to reach the nearby Hotel du Parc.

We were there in 2 minutes. The charming young lady at the desk asked if we could speak in English...
I speak French well enough but she was keen to practice her English. No problem!

The only room they had left was the "Lafayette Suite" on the top floor. It had been newly renovated and she seemed quite proud of it. 200 euros a night. More than I'd normally pay but it was late, hotels were full and after all we were on holiday.

Minutes later we exited the elevator and entered the suite. It was huge! A large living area had a desk, a table and chairs and a daybed for our daughter. A dividing wall separated the queen bed from the main
room. There was a large flat screen TV and free internet. Even a huge a walk in closet... the closet alone was as big as some Paris hotel rooms I've seen!

The piece de resistance was the bathroom! Opposite the separate WC was a marble oasis... double sinks,
a walk in shower with a rain head and a lovely deep soaker tub. Our teen daughter immediately laid claim to the latter! When I finally got in, the rain shower was wonderful.

There is a very upscale restaurant in the hotel... we were already tired and after freshening up only wanted something light so we walked to a cafe around the corner for drinks and a light supper.

It was very warm and it was great to return to the air conditioned suite... unlike some hotels this AC really worked well. After a restful night for all we departed early next morning after loading up on croissants etc from the bakery next door.

All in all a most enjoyable stay from the front desk welcome to the comfort and amenities of the suite. Next time in Le Puy I know where we'll stay. ;^) It's worth every centime.

Room Tip: Ask for the Lafayette Suite!

Right in the center of town, with an easy stroll to local sights. Friendly staff, who made everything very easy. Room was large and delightful, with windows overlooking the park. Huge bath facilities.

“Modern hotel, cool room, charming staff”

We were in le Puy for one night, first visit. Le Parc is easy to find, convenient for the old centre of le Puy (two min walk) and quiet. Oh, and it has this restaurant ;-) (separate review). We took the cheapest room, very good deal, as the French say - bon rapport qualite / prix. It had been recently renovated and was clean lined with just a hint of a quirk. Bathroom was mostly white and good, shower with two heads, etc, etc. Nice selection of tea with small kettle, mini bar / fridge, bed is comfy. Hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, went out of their way to make sure we had maps, etc for our exploration of town. My only critique is that the parking is very narrow and small. They do warn you when they give you the digicode to get in, but not when you book. Luckily we have a Honda Civic, not a big car, and we live in Amsterdam, so we are used to tight spaces, but, crikey... I cannot imagine how you would get a large, long estate / station wagon in there. There did seem to be lots of on-street parking around the hotel - well, there were lots of cars parked around the hotel and parking meters, etc, so it must be possible to park outside, something you may want to consider if you have a large car. That said, I think the hotel is great, I wouldn't hesitate to go back and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. I only mention the parking situation so that you have all the information at your fingertips. Don't rule this place out because of it, especially if you are looking for somewhere to eat... the food, the food...

“A gem with incredible service”

We arrived without a reservation. The front desk allowed us to see the available rooms, and assisted with every aspect of check in including their private parking garage and reservations in their unique restaurant. We felt welcomed into a private home. Our room faced the main thoroughfare, but the roads are completely quiet due to excellent sound proofing. Everyone on staff was wonderfully accommodating and welcoming. Highest praise.

“Excellent Hotel and staff in a good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

We arrived Sunday late afternoon on the last day of the Towns medievil festival. Although a lot of the roads were closed we could get to the Hotel Main Entrance. Check in was very efficient with a nice personal approach, we chose to park the car in the Hotel underground parking.
Our room was a comfort (confort) on the 5th floor over looking the Park, the room was spotless and quiet, with a very comfortable bed, particularly liked the layout, and use of space for the wardrobes. The bathroom was in keeping with the rest of the room, with a superb walk in shower.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with info on places to see in and around town.
Unfortunately the resteraunt was closed for the 2 nights we stayed so we cannot comment on the food, other than breakfast which was typical continental fare.
