We stayed here on the night of 12 October. The room was excellent with a large modern bathroom and balcony . The carparking in the secure courtyard was a plus. What made the stay memorable though was the helpfulness of Charles. He offered restaurant recommendations and confirmed that our choice of Ze Bistrot was spot on ( which it was) . Our only regret was that we only spent one night in Pau which is a very pleasant town .

Hotel Bristol is a charming oasis within a lovely city. The reception and assistance during our brief stay was outstanding -- and included maneuvering our too large rental car into the European sized parking lot. The decor of the room was colourful and uniquely interesting -- the chest of drawers had been painted silver and its drawers lined with 1918 newspapers. The location was superb, right in the centre of town. Our stay at this lovely hotel was an unanticipated delight.

You can pay €250 at the luxurious Beaumont or €50 at the functional Ibis, but for €90 or so you just can't beat the Bristol. Owned and managed impeccably by M. Charles Fernandes, this is a beautiful building with lovely rooms right bang in the middle of town. Free parking too. The bathrooms are especially good, which in our view always counts for a lot. Accept no other suggestion - stay at the Bristol. S&S, Cambridge.

The hotel was good and the room was just as we had wanted with a great view of the Pyrenees. Breakfast was fine and so was the service. A great welcome in a very interesting place. Pity about the weather in July!
