“Awful , Awful, Awful”

I just don't know where to start with trying to get across how bad this hotel actually was, I ended up leaving to find a different hotel before we even got properly into the room, at the entrance of the door and in the passage there was bowls with what looked like dried dog or cat food inside, hairs all over the carpet again which must have been from an animal, the smell was awful, our room was still being cleaned at 4.0.clock so we were told to wait outside when check in should have been at 2pm. The rooms from what we could see were tiny there was 2 of us supposed to be staying it had 3 single beds squashed into this room how you were even meant to get out of bed I do not know there was no floor space! The decor was old fashioned and dated. While we were standing outside of the room another cleaner was dragging a load of dirty sheets past our feet and the maid which was in our room as we were going downstairs asked for a bottle of beer which she had seen in one of our bags, after all of this we decided to ask for our money back because there was no way we could have stayed in that hotel, I spoke to the manager who was extremely abrupt and refused to give us back our money, I listed all of the points which we were concerned about and he told me and I quote "Don't you think you are going over the top" I have no idea what ever happened to "the customer is always right" the cleaner was then called downstairs and when asked said dirty sheets had not been dragged across the floor and that she had not asked us for alcohol! In the end we just told the manager to keep the money but that we would be sending in a letter of complaint, we left and one of the guests who was already staying there said that they had no heating or hot water and pointed us in the direction of a hotel around the corner, we asked if they had any vacancies to which they said that they had, while going back out to get our bags we seen the manager from the Wilton Grange going into this hotel and after this when we tried to check in we were told that they were fully booked, funny that!! Anyway all in all I was absolutely appalled, don't stay there!! This is not a budget hotel! It’s more like a run down hostel!!!

“a lovely low budget stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2008

very friendly stuff ... nice green and quiet area ... clean small rooms ... new bathrooms ... tv ... well connected to Manchester City by Metrolink (Crumpsall) ... tea in a shared tea kitchen ... no breakfast (but there are lots of places in Manchester to have a sandwich)

I so wish that I had read the previous review before I booked this hotel for my husband and father for one night. They needed a cheap bed for the night after going to Old Trafford and didn't want to drive home again the same evening. I wish now I had booked a Travelodge instead.
They reiterated a lot of the previous comments. It is not a hotel. There are no tea and coffee facilities available 24 hours as advertised. Everything that wasn't nailed down in the room had been removed. There was no plug in the sink. The 'hotel ' was being used to house people temporarily by the council. It was not a pleasant stay and certainly not a 3 star hotel. Don't consider booking this hotel AT ALL!

“This is NOT a hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2007

On arrival I was surprised to be greeted by a group of young lads drinking cider using unappropriate language, and smoking weed!
The hotel was old looking very dirty & dusty not what you would expect for a hotel.
A member of staff checked me in, who was friendly enough, it appeared he was running the hotel by himself.
My room was a reasonably size but had clearly been neglected, (e.g) lights not working, stains on furniture!
As my stay continued at the wilton grange, the noise from guests running up and down corridors became unbearable.
I was then made aware by another guest that the accomodation I had booked on the internet as a 3* hotel was in fact a DSS.
I was not pleased by any means but what I was told made sense, from my experiences at the wilton Grange.
I then left the hotel and went to stay in anoter hotel close by which was much more friendly, clean and comfotable.
The Wilton Grange 'Hotel' is advertised on late rooms website, there is no reviews.
