We have stayed at Chancellors Hotel a number of times, and even got married here this summer. Have had a good experience and service generally in the past. Have had problems however with the showers a few times. Went for New years eve and my now husband had a shower. There are signs warning about hot water, so he dutifully set the water and was very careful to wait and make sure the water was right before getting in. After 10 minutes of being in the shower, it suddenly went scalding hot and burnt him. Though the reception staff were very good and understanding, the manager was a completely rude man (who I would say more, but don't want to swear!) and basically said there were signs warning and therefore our fault. He then tried to explain WHY it is the showers can scald you! Showers should not scald you!! We asked him what would have happened if there was a child or older person with us and he merely said ' well there isn't is there?'. His complete lack of understanding and willing to solve a problem was astounding. This was even after he knew we had spent a great deal of money there just a few months earlier.
What we are very concerned about is that there is still a problem, the showers continue to burn people and they will do nothing about it. I have seen other reviews and spoken to other people and seen it happen to them. Until this is resovled we shall not be going back. I will be writing to the council to try and get someone to solve this problem and urge anyone with children, or have older people with them NOT to stay here.
