“Cheap but not cheerful!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I had stayed at the Hotel once before and booked again for a 1 night stay. The chap on reception was very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately for us we were booked into a room on the 3rd floor and the lift was out of order, was not impressed!!

Rooms are very basic but seem clean. We were booked into a family room as I was staying with my Aunt and my 2 children, bed linen and towels were not provided for all the beds so we had to ask at reception for them.

I inspected the double bed and found the bed sheet did not cover the top of the mattress so I pulled the sheet off to remake the bed properly and wished I did not!! Mattress was filthy!! Quickly remade the bed and tried to forget about it.

Did not sleep well, room was very hot even with the heater turned off.

Bath and shower are good, great water pressure!!!

On my 1st stay my son left his electric toothbrush in the bathroom and this time I left my phone charger behind. On both occasions I telephoned the Hotel and both time my items had not been located. Please do not forget anything in this Hotel as you will not get it returned!!!

On the whole its just a place to lay your head, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

“really, really, good quality, minimalistic, basic room. Is all you need!!!!!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I booked this hotel, with the helpful + friendly lady, on reception, on the actual day, in December 2011, and managed to get a room for £54.00, with my debit card, and I thought this was a very good price, for on the day booking, if I booked in advance, I probably would have got it cheaper, but I hadn't thought, or planned the stay. She told me if I come back, after 3.00pm, it would cost a little less, and there wasn't long to go, so agreed, + saved some money, about £10.00 I think. The room was really, really, very, very, clean, tidy + well organised, and had all the very basic things, I needed for my 1 night stay, without any added luxuries or extras. The double bed was well made, and was, really, really, comfy!!!!!!!! There was a small digital tv, which worked, a good working shower, + a little soap is provided, a little bit different to basic little white soaps, with clean white towels. There was a kettle, with tea + coffee, milk, sugar, + sweeteners, provided. Power sockets are provided, for any electrical accessories, you may bring. I had a room near the main road nearby, next to Tesco's, and it really wasn't that noisy, actually, and was really quite easy, to get to sleep, especially in the comfy bed, and the way the room was organised, minimalistic, it was well relaxing!!!!! The room was really quite warm, when I first went in, but I turned down the heating a little, and it was, absolutely just great. I also ordered a breakfast bag, in the morning, which was £3.85, and I was really quite impressed with it actually, it came all nicely packaged, in a nicely advertised, breakfast Travelodge bag, with a croissant individually packaged, with butter + a knife, a small fruit muffin cake, individually packaged, a little bottle of fresh orange juice, + a little bowl of cornflakes, with longlife milk, on top. It was certainly enough for me, for a quick snack + breakfast, in the morning!!!!!!!!:)

Room Tip: book early, for a really cheap reduced rate, if planning a trip, otherwise if need to, go in on day...

“oh dear - shame about the beds!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

A few pointers if you go - take your own pillows, don't expect any heating and don't eat in the pub next door! A short walk into Didsbury though means a wider choice of food or a train journey into Manchester from the station opposite means an even better choice.
Its fine if you pay £15 for the room but thats about it!

“One of the best Travelodges in our experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I was a little concerned having, unusually, booked this hotel without having read the reviews on this site. We booked in order to stay overnight after a family party in nearby Chorlton.

Finding the hotel wasn't easy. Although the hotel was easily visible from the road, the route into the hotel was less so, and we took a diversion through the bus station, before finding the correct way in, and then following the road all the way around the leisure complex before finding the hotel at the end! Because the car park also serves a pub, several restaurants and a multiplex cinema, it was more than a little full, and we had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to leave before we could park.

Check-in was friendly and swift, and we were up to our room. Yes, there were black marks above the heater, but the room was large, clean, in good order and with a large bathroom. Dispatching our son on a hunt for extra pillows, he returned with three pillows and plentiful decaf coffee a few minutes later.

Although our room overlooked a main road, traffic and other noise was virtually nil. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the pub below the hotel before heading to our party. However, upon our return just after 11pm, the pub was closed and in darkness - no problems with noise for us!

Location is good, with easy links to the M60 and M56, a bus station within the entertainment complex and a railway station across the road near a large Tesco. From the motorway, we were at the hotel within five minutes, and the next morning we were at the Trafford Centre within about 20 minutes.

My wife described the hotel as one of the best Travelodges in which we have stayed - look at my profile to see that we have stayed in a few! We would be more than happy to stay again, should the need arise, and would know the way in this time!

“Dismal Didsbury”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I stayed at this Lodge a few weeks ago and was dissapointed to say the least, but as it is the nearest to Christies. The last time I stayed in room 208 and washed the wall myself leaving a big clean mark through the black marks on the wall from the heater. Talk about coincidence same room allocated yesterday. After 3 room changes we transferred to Trafford Park FABULOUS!!!!!!!! Staff member Jonathon at Didsbury was marvellous he is there only saving grace. The markings below are for Didsbury I would rate Trafford park as Excellent through and through.

Room Tip: Just don't go to Didsbury.
