“Very Spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stopped for a weekend break, and enjoyed the sampler menu in the restaurant. Having stayed here before knew what to expect with the open plan rooms, however the room we stayed in was huge, very comfortable bed. Food as always was a delight.

“Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Very near Piccadilly station and centre of Manchester. Northern Quarter, Art Gallery, Cornerhouse etc within easy walking distance.Had basic room, 2 course meal and breakfast on a deal and it was worth what we paid. The room was spacious if bland and the bed comfortable. It was quiet but I don't know if we were there alone. The original tiles were visible in the stairwell but not imaginatively incorporated into the (tasteless, mdf) modernisation. The food was good although I cannot imagine why there was a £1.50 supplement on a small pork and tarragon 'burger' with supermarket roll.Breakfast was very good except for the (common) rubbery sausage. Every member of staff in the restaurant and on reception was competent, charming, helpful and friendly..There was a strange smell but I think some floors were being redone so presumably it is not always like that.

“Pretty average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed for a Friday night with a mate. We were told we'd been upgraded to a 'desirable' room so we expected something special but the room was decidly average - not much better than you'd expect for a Premier Inn or similar, but more expensive. The bed was very soft and the hotel was noisy - you could hear neighbours doors closing and footsteps from the room above. The shower was nice though and the location is excellent - being between Piccadilly Station and Piccadilly Gardens.

“Better quality expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Great location for visiting central Manchester but for a 4 star hotel and having visited other Abode hotels the hotel interior was not up to expectations. The enviable room, their name not mine, was of a good size but was drab and dreary. Nothing special with the decor, the picture quality on the supposed high quality entertainment centre was poor and the furniture looked like it had come from MFI. The noise however was the worst problem. Being woken at 7 on a Sunday as the bins were emptied was a shock to the system and the walls between rooms were paper thin enabling us to keep abreast of all that was going on in adjacent rooms. Service was good however I expected more.

“Fab location but noisy!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

First impressions were great; friendly welcome, clean, tidy, great location, stylish, nice size room, bath and shower. Sadly in the morning all we could hear were the garbage collectors out on the street, then the cleaners (or various people) walking constantly in the hall way and up and down the stair well next to our room which meant we kept being woken from about 6am until we eventually just got up at 9am! On a Sunday! Also, the NCP car park opposite does give you a discount if you are staying at the hotel but not as much of a discount if we had parked at one further away. Check this out with the hotel before you arrive and park! Overall not bad if you got the special rate we did.
