The rooms are clean and tidy, for the price you're paying what do you expect? Brilliant location. Have these negative reviewers ever stayed in other towns, cities, here in UK or abroad, because I have??? The staff are friendly, chef is good, what more could you ask more for?

The whole hotel smelled of damp, the shower was like someone was urinating on your head, the bed was uncomfortable, the room was cold, the walls are so thin I could hear EVERYTHING from next door. The mirror in the bathroom is made for someone the height of Bilbo Baggins - the same applies for the shower. How the other reviews on here state "High Standards" and "Homely" I will never know. Just an unbeleivably awful place to stay. As per another reviewer, for £10 more go to the Goddard Arms down the road. I was planning to stay for three nights but could only manage one.

My husband drove 3 hours to the Kings Hotel only to find no-one at home! He phoned and phoned but nobody answered and he ended up driving round Swindon last night searching for a room! He was not pleased at all!

The room was horrible, smelly and tired looking with stains in the carpet. The room was cold and the heating wasn't working, instead I was left with a dodgy electric shower. The shower tray was was cracked and held together by tape. It was truly terrible and I left straight away and booked into the Goddards Arms hotel down the road which was lots better and cheaper.
