“Our experience”

We decided to stay at the Wiltshire for a family wedding. Our room was clean and basic and we had no problem with it. Whilst we didn't experience any issues ourselves, the experience that some of our family members had was quite frankly disgusting. Firstly, the bride couldn't get into her bridal suite; a suite which it had been arranged would have an early check in time. I remember seeing the bride on the morning of her wedding at 10am unable to get into a room to have a shower before her wedding which she needed to leave for at 12! Then the room they did offer her was freezing! Had these rooms been booked a week in advance you may be able to allow for some miscommunication but the rooms had been booked for months!
The next morning, we went down for breakfast at 9am as breakfast was advertised until 9:30. We were able to get breakfast at that time, but it was clear that they were no longer filling the cooked breakfast up and that the waitress and waiter had no intention of doing so as it was getting towards 9.30. When another member of our party came down there was nothing left! I was stood talking to her whilst getting myself a glass of juice and the atmosphere and attitude from the waitress was again disgusting as she slammed the juice down. What happened to customer service?
To add to the customer service issue, when my Auntie was discussing the issue from the previous day with the bridal suite she was still expected to pay for it despite the fact that it was not ready and she couldn't get ready in there! To make matters even worse no apology was ever made to the family! Again customer service seemed to not apply at this hotel!

Overall, the hotel experience for us was acceptable, but we are disgusted and disappointed with the experience of our party members and feel we would not wish to stay here again.

“This hotel does not live up to expectations!”

We trusted this hotel to look after us for a big family occasion that involved us booking some 20 rooms between us, some for one night some for two. The drive up to the hotel is impressive through the golf course. The rooms... a little tired and in need of a face lift but clean. Undeterred we collected our swim gear and headed for the pool... changing rooms clean but big wide open space, showers tired... pool area clean... but huge disappointment, Jaccuzi not working! Due to time of year there were also restricted hours of use with regard to the pool.
Breakfast was poor, the scrambled eggs solid... we were not looked after at the table, and had to go in search of staff for a coffee refill..., I was in the restaurant at 8.15am for a leisurely breakfast and enjoyed the chance to talk to other party members as they arrived so by the time I wanted a croissant at 9.20 there were none left, so I requested some but I was told breakfast was finished although 9.30 was the advertised cut off time.
The bar area was frankly very poor and dated.
The real whammy came the next day when the hotel staff had completely mixed up the room booking that we had made as a gift to our future daughter-in-law... an agreed (and invoiced for) early 9.00am check in (confirmed by email to our son) to the Bridal Suite, so that she could enjoy the whole excitement of getting ready for her big day with the bridal party. She came to my room and was very upset so I immediately went to reception. This wedding had been planned so carefully, down to the last detail, this was to be my future daughter-in-law's and son's big day. I was very angry and felt very let down, the receptionist did not have the back up of any managerial staff and had to handle the situation by herself, which left her upset. The room was not available as they had booked in guests the night before, who didn't have to vacate until 11.00 am and then the room needed to be cleaned...etc. She was offered another room that was freezing cold and the bath panel was hanging off threatening to snag very expensive outfits... a portable heater and a man with a drill turned up... by this time we decided to abandon any idea of using this room and so we all improvised and shared our rooms so that the 'bridal entourage' had make-up done in one room, hair in another and dressed in a further room... . Not ideal by any stretch of the imagination! We finally got the keys for the Bridal Suite at 11.40am and as the party had to leave the hotel just after 12.00pm it was of no value whatsoever. When the groom and the bride returned after the wedding none of their luggage was in the room as there had been no time to organise this and in fact the next morning the bride had to text me to collect items of her clothing from the three family rooms where the prep had been done in order to be able to get dressed!
So I finally got to see a manager just before checking out as I did not want to pay for the suite... the situation and our 'relationship' with this hotel could have still been 'saved' at this point, but sadly misrepresentations had been made in the telling of the story to her and she refused to waive the fee (she wanted to speak to some one else who was not present or contactable etc etc). My son, had by this time, arrived in reception as he was checking out with us and showed the General Manager the email he had received back in November confirming arrangement and so it was finally agreed that we would not pay for the room, but no apology was ever made.
The most helpful and pleasant member of staff was the cleaner.
I wouldn't ever choose to return to this hotel and would never recommend it to anyone.

“Rude staff , poor service”

My family visited this hotel to celebrate a family wedding so we had provide this hotel with a considerable amount of business. We were not treated properly. When we booked in we were not given directions to our room. Our children's beds were noisy every time they moved and all night we heard a howling noise as the wind blew through the window vents worrying my youngest child. Breakfast was served until 9.30 we entered the restaurant at 9.15, it was a buffet style breakfast. We tried to get a glass of juice that had gone. We asked for some more by the time that came all the glasses had gone. We asked for glasses which never arrived we had to go to the bar and get them ourselves. When we got back all the juice had gone..... We gave up on that one. Then we tried to ordered poached eggs. We were told they had stopped serving as it was a after 9.30. I lost my temper and they finally agreed to cook eggs , what should have taken 2/4mins toll approximately 15/20 mins. The waitress made it plain she was not happy slamming plates down. In the mean time all the buffet had been cleared away so we left the restaurant hungry. We were not the only casualties another guest was refused croissants as it was after 9.30. I did complain to no avail , just an apology My advice is steer clear premier inns give better service for less money.

“A very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

A pleasant well appointed room. Friendly curteous staff. Quiet room. THE most powerful shower that was invigorating and warm. Food and service was very good. Although I selected the this hotel for access to the gym I didnt get time to use it but from what I saw it was well equipped and free gym towels are available from reception. Altogether a very pleasant stay with good access to the motorway and Swindon.
