Welcomed into the pub like old friends with husband finishing up standing in for a dominoes team member. The food, served in the bar and the dining room, is excellent and in large amounts. The bar has a good and ever changing selection of beers and maintains an interesting range of wines (with wine tasting evenings available - which we missed) They also have specialist theme evenings - fish, lobster, Thai etc: A friendly local crowd soon makes you part of the group and the owners cannot do enough for you.
Two of the bedrooms have views across Nidderdale. Breakfast in the morning sets you up for a day - walking or visiting the surrounding countryside, properties or Harrogate and York.

I have stayed here many times on business and no the area and the pub very well, this time we came as a couple, my wife and I, she has never been to The Royal Oak before and she loved it, just as I thought she would, we had a perfect break, it was mid November and the weather was horrible, we chilled out infronf ot The Oaks big open fire and drank great beer, wine and the food wad to die for, we will be back this is one of the only genuine country inns left now, we love it.

We often eat at the Royal Oak for lunch or dinner. The service is always friendly and the food is outstanding. We have been to a few of their "theme" dinners (we did Portuguese night and Greek night) and it is always fantastic. The food is always good quality and local. Highly recommend!

I've stayed at the Royal Oak on two occasions, we like to visit the Harrogate Flower Show and I looked on the internet for somewhere to stay in the Harrogate area but in the countryside. I live in the middle of a town, very close to a motorway and I wanted peace and quiet and a nice view from my window. I found it at the Royal Oak. Our room was lovely and the view was bliss, hills, fields and cows. The food is excellent and the pub is very nice. We stayed last September and then again this September. There is also plenty of parking, even when the restaurant is busy. We like to stay at different Inns but we knew that we'd really enjoy the Royal Oak and we wasn't disappointed. We love it! Definately booking it again for next year.
