“lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We stayed for 5 nights, 2 couples for bed and breakfast, rooms were clean and comfortable breakfasts were excellent. We had a few very nice, reasonably priced meals in the restaurant with no complaints from any of us, drinks were a fair price, entertainment is better over the weekend (fri/sat/sun) The Meetings is set in a lovely beauty spot and I could recommend staying if you would like to visit and tour the south/east of Ireland.
Our only moan would be if you prefer to stay in your room for the night the TV is not the best, so take your own entertainment, thankfully we don't stay in, so no problem there ...... overall The Meetings is a lovely place to stay.

“Wonderful accommodation, wonderful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

Stayed here with my wife and three relative from Toronto, Canada. We all very much enjoyed our 3 nights here and wished we could have stayed longer. Lovely owners, we were well looked after especially at breakfast!! Ahh, those extra sausages and bacon!!!
Rooms were clean and tidy, food both at breakfast and in the bar downstairs were excellent and a grand selection of Irish whisky, what more could anyone want. Fabulous location to match with easy distance of Dublin, the coast and other towns.
All of us agreed we'd go back again and stay here at a moments notice if we could.
Thank you to everyone there for a lovely stay.

“Everything you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2009

We stayed at the Robins Nest (above the Meetings Bar) for one night. The room and breakfast were excellent, but also we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant followed by wonderful entertainment with folk songs from all over the world. Highly recommended.

“We won't meet again!”

We stayed at The Meetings for 3 nights last July. It has taken me so long to write this review because I really did not want to upset the owners who were really very nice, but I did not particularly enjoy my stay. The rooms were very dusty, with dust visible along the skirting boards, on the lampshades and even on the lightbulb. Because I had a dust allergy - and it was summer, it just made life unbearable. The bathroom was also not too clean, with bacteria visible around the wash hand basin, in the shower tray and on the wall next to the wash hand basin. The room we had was particularly noisy - not from the pub below - but from the noisy people in the rooms next to us. One one side was someone who watched TV very loudly into the very early hours of the morning, and on the other side was a family with a young child who would bang doors and the drawers in the chest of drawers at the crack of dawn every morning, so if you are looking for a quiet peaceful stay in the irish countryside - this is not the place to come. Breakfast was good. Huge servings with unlimited tea and toast with a nice view of the river and a chance to spot lots of birds visiting the balcony feeding from the birdfeeders the owners has placed there. The tables and chairs were a little dated and needed a bit of modernisation, as did the whole breakfast room. But breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly. The pub downstairs does do a good pint, but the bar meals are absolutely awful - everything deep fried and a flashback to 70's cuisine. I found good restaurants hard to find in this area, so it;s good to have a nominated driver and to venture a bit further for a good bar meal. If every other B&B is full, then stay here for the good breakfast, but if you have the chance of another B&B if you are staying in this area I'd choose the other, at least until the rooms are given a good dust, the bathrooms are cleaned and the rooms are soundproofed (or people disrespectful of others who have things on too loud or don't tell their children to try not to make so much noice don't stay in them).

  • Liked — Good Breakfasts.
  • Disliked — Noise, dust, not a great location to find food in the evening.

“Rooms Immaculate, Breakfast Superbe, Location Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

We stayed at The Meetings last year for a couple of nights and liked it so much we went back this year again!
It is located in such a beautiful area of Ireland. County Wicklow has so much to offer; beautiful countryside, lovely walks, fishing. golf. etc.
The Meetings gets its name from the meeting of two rivers which join at the back of the B&B/pub. It is beautiful, you could sit for ages just watching the two waters meet.
The rooms are immaculate - hotel standard,- and the breakfast is substantial. And the best bit is that when you go out for a day and come back weary and ready for nothing more than a nice meal and a drink, all you have to do is go down to the pub downstairs attached to the B&B. The food is excellent and plenty of it! There is music most nights during the summer (but don't worry it is good old fashioned Irish traditional or country and does not go on beyond 10 o'clock)
Avoca which is about 2km from The Meetings is where Ballykissangel was filmed. It has a lovely pub and the local fish and chip shop does a great meal (eat in or takeaway)
Lovely place to stay. Would thoroughly reccommend it.

  • Liked — beautiful setting, clean, convenient for drink and meal without having to travel
  • Disliked — really cannot think of anything that was so bad that I have to comment on it!
