“What's the problem?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

people never stop whinging. I have stayed in Hotels, twice as expensive (59euro), with half the quality of the place. The staff were brilliant, all front house being Irish, a fantastic change. They couldn't do enough, the indian menu was fantastic, friendly barman, clean warm rooms.
We found it so enjoyable that we cancelled our second night in Galway in order to enjoy its facilities.
The young Irish staff couldn't do enough at breakfast, and my partner, who is English, also commented on their friendliness.
The only aspect for me, was the very slight smell of chlorine in reception, but that was only my over sensitive nose!!l

“Great staff”

Stayed at Woodstock for 2 nights recently and I have to agree with some comments here that the hotel is in need of some refurbishment. However, the staff are very friendly, the rooms warm and cosy and all room facilities etc in good working order. I ended up swapping rooms and the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. I'll definitely stay here again, especially at such competitive rates.

“Would not consider it a 4* but was more than adequate”

Stayed June 2010 as part of a deal (not 2011 as per below "When did you travel?" section).
Used it as a base to travel all around the west (Ennis town, Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher the Burren).

The location in a housing estate was a bit strange but staff were friendly and room was a good size and comfortable.

“A Woodstock Disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I do not understand all the high ratings this hotel scored on the website where we found it. It does look impressive on the pictures and you do expect some kind of luxury and wanting to treat yourselves, but after our staying on Halloween night, I would not give more than 3.5 points out of 10. The 4 star rating is a big joke! Perhaps 2 stars would be more realistic?!...... as the hotel rooms (we have booked 2 double rooms) were dirty with stainy carpets, walls and curtains. The furniture upholstery of the armchairs was stained and and filthy and I had a problem to use them. The bed sheet had a big hole in it, but the most disgusting experience was the towels as they smelled like swimming pool. We decided to have a dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was a big mistake as the forein waiter was really unfriendly and unsympathetic. My wine was served in a chipped wine glass and the diet coke we ordered was brought to us in a filthy glass with ice and lemon and it was some kind of cheap syrup coke, which we were not able to drink. We felt very unwelcomed. I would not return nor recommend this hotel. It was disappointing.
